The SCOTUS has become the equivalent of Iranian Ayatollahs - a governing body that applies religious texts to inform and decide their public policies. We are officially living in a theocracy right now.

Over a year ago, when it was still safe to take public transportation, I was talking with a bus passenger about the loss of the separation of church and state. The driver asked why we wanted to outlaw religion. I tried to explain to him that religious freedom can only exist with a secular government that stays out of religion.

He was visibly upset by that and I realized he did not know what secular meant. He equated it with atheist. RWers have succeeded in turning a neutral word like "secular" into an anti religious word when it is actually the best guarantee of the right to have one's own religion or no religion.

It's time to take back the English language from the right. We need to undercut their abuse of it by using words that people understand, like "neutral" government instead of "secular" government. Then when RWers try to argue against a neutral government on religion we can label them as the opponents of the first amendment that they are. Hypocrites who only want religious "freedom" for themselves and no one else.
