And how Meghan would handle her mother being so far away. Unless, of course, she moves there with her.

I think Meghan's separation from HER mother would be equally as difficult. I've never seen Meghan as being her own person, or particularly mature.

Which is why I question her maturity. I swear, she could be offended by a weather report.

I do understand she might feel very uncertain, having a new baby with no mother for advice and guidance. Hopefully she's close to any of her sisters in law because, I could be wrong but she certainly doesn't strike me as the maternal type.

a harmless enough way to stroke the moderate right, reaching across and all that -- which we must do.

Her Majesty's diplomatic service would no doubt be delighted just to receive anyone from Biden, one who sits with her knees together merely a plus, in exchange for Woody Johnson's racism, little surprises like pressuring them to move the British Open to Trump's course in Scotland, etc.

The only time we hear much in our media about US ambassadors to the UK is when they're assholes, which in Johnson's case has been too frequent.

He lobbied for the British Open to be held at Trump Turnberry (a non-starter on many levels - the government has little or nothing to do with the location of the competition, and the organizers were strongly against any such move after Trump's frequent racist outbursts, not least because they alienated wealthy overseas backers), he's alleged to have made racist and sexist remarks to embassy staffers, and during his time as ambassador, the embassy has run up a massive backlog of unpaid parking tickets in London which he stubbornly refuses to honour. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

If this rumour pans out, McCain should be an upgrade!

Bringing some dignity to our ambassadorships not to mention class and decency. It will be good to see helmet head, Mrs. Gingrich, leave the Vatican as our ambassador.

I'm just surprised that at her age (she's 66) and after a rough few years, that she would want a position that will require that much travel and that much workload. UK ambassador is a huge responsibility. Not like ambassador to some island nation you hand out to a donor so they can sit on the beach sipping mai-tais all day.......

but if she wants to serve her country. i'm all for it.
