It's official. Yesterday, the Ohio Secretary of State certified Ohio's election results. Our collective work in this race for the Ohio Supreme Court created a bright spot for Ohio. We defeated an incumbent justice. And in doing so we broke Ohio's gerrymandered Congressional districts. Take a look:
Together we won counties a Democrat has not won in years. Together we won 14 out of 16 of Ohio's Congressional districts. Together we outperformed the Democratic presidential candidate in 77 out of 88 counties. And importantly -- together we beat Ohio's gerrymandered Congressional map. And we are not done.
One of the major reasons I ran for the Ohio Supreme Court in 2020 was to play a role in any challenge of Ohio's new districts in 2021 -- to help keep districts drawn under the state constitution's new formulas adopted by Ohio voters in 2015 and 2018, honest and true to the voice of the people.
Thank you for what you did. I will be there for you every step of the way -- just as you have been for me. I love Ohio, and I will work my hardest to prove it every day I have been given to serve as your Ohio Supreme Court justice.
I know it's been a tough year. But our work together has created a real bright spot of hope for our future. Together we overcame obstacles and proved Ohio can come together in new and amazing ways.
We'll have another chance to come together and celebrate what we've done. Soon we will send you details about our swearing-in ceremony, to be held during the first weekend of January. You can attend through Zoom, and all can remain safe during this time.
Thank you for what you've done. You make Ohio great. Please stay safe.

(2,208 posts)About running for Governor. Maybe because he knows he wont be winning if his ridiculously gerrymandered district will no longer be. Gotta gear up to make sure snaggletooth Gym wont be successful-at any office he runs for.

(32,626 posts)in a long time. She commissioned a review of the voting systems mandated by HAVA. The name of the study was EVEREST, and I think helped raise awareness of the fallibility of voting machines. The pdf is a good read for anyone interested...

EVEREST: Evaluation and Validation of
Election-Related Equipment, Standards and Testing?
The researchers in the Ohio study didn't address the issue of probability of attack, leaving that to the determination of state and local officials. The researchers commented that with the lack of technical measures in voting system design, its integrity "is provided purely by the integrity and honesty of election officials."
"It's a testament to our state's boards of elections officials that elections on the new HAVA mandated voting systems have gone as smoothly as they have in light of these findings," Brunner said.
Testers looking at the performance of the voting systems used in Ohio and in many locales throughout the country, identified numerous risks to election integrity ranging from minor to severe, according to the review.
Also, those examining how voting systems were configured in the field found risks such as the use of materials like memory storage and printer paper that had not been certified by the voting system manufacturers; a lack of standardized equipment testing and that revisions to voting system software for all systems and counties were not documented or tracked, the review said.

(34 posts)That was one of my most satisfying votes. Love her she is awesome. Please for the love of God get me out of Gym Jordans district.
Because people are leaving Ohio we should lose one electoral vote meaning one congressional district. I wonder how thats going to figure in to redistricting?
