of people I grew up loving.

I miss knowing he is out there alive, doing his garden chores, being a peaceful man and writing memorable music.

Always saw something special in George. He was/is a gift.

I remember that awful day well. ABC's Aaron Brown opened the lead story of the evening news saying "...and then there were just two (i.e., Paul and Ringo)". This came just a couple of months after 9/11. It was a bleak time.

George was just perfect: unbelievably wise and witty, extremely kind, and a great and underrated musician and songwriter. In some respects, he was my favorite Beatle.

RIP, mate. We love you more than we can say.

On edit, one of my many, many solo fave raves from George. Incidentally, this song is 50 years old!:

Here is a video that was commissioned by his family a few years back. I always feel better after watching. The dancers are amazing.

And that's a great thing!

"What is Life" is basically George Harrison at his finest musically. You can hear the lead and slide guitars all over the place, but always in understated portions that add to, rather than dominate, the song. Granted, this is Phil Spector's Wall of Sound in full sonic display, but George comes off admirably, much like he always did with his guitar work with the Beatles. He is perfectly complementary to the rest of the music.

Also, the lyrics are spiritual and full of love and humility....everything George possessed in spades.

favorite Beatle in perceived personality.

Saw Harrison at the Oakland Colesium for his Dark Horse tour, Ravi Shanker and Billy Preston were the opening acts that also played tunes with Harrison.

Great show.
