Maureen Dowd published this shit from her brother. I really don't like her. End of story.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — The mercurial presidency of Donald Trump apparently is over. Historians, 20 or 30 years hence, will be the impartial arbiters of his accomplishments, but for the nearly 74 million people who voted for him, he already has fulfilled their hopes and justified their trust.

The Democrats call now for unity, but four years ago, they screamed for resistance and upheaval. They encouraged confrontation of Trump officials at their homes and restaurants. They opposed the administration every step of the way. Their hypocrisy is laughable.

Trump gave us a strong economy, achieved the lowest unemployment in 50 years, fortified the border and guaranteed the integrity of the judicial system by appointing over 200 judges, including three Supreme Court justices.

snip

Democrats have been quick to dismiss any Trump supporter as a racist, homophobe or redneck, but they all shared a common trait with him, an unapologetic love of America.

While I think the other OP was misleading, the fact is she gave her column space to her nutty brother without refuting a word of it. Just because she didn't write it doesn't mean she should get a pass. There's quite enough RW bullshit that gets published already.

There’s no excuse for that BS. She has eyes. She’s seen what motivates Trump... nothing, NOTHING but the best interests of Donald J. Trump.

Absolutely vile. I’m all for differences of opinion but this is deliberately obtuse.

Harry Turtledove must be green with envy over such facile historical revisionism.

"An unapologetic love of America" - ?

If the Trumpanzees' reaction to social strictures made necessary by the need to contain COVID-19 proves anything, it's simply this: If we were in a shooting war with a powerful enemy, it's the Trump-supporters who would be leaving the lights on during bombing raids, blurting out ship sailing-times at the waterfront to anyone who asked for them, however sinister and suspicious, hoarding food, gas, and other rationed items needed for the war effort.

I've never seen a group exhibiting less love of country than this squalid petrie-dish of human fallibility known as the Trump cult. They love Trump, and no one and nothing else...

where everything is rosy, everyone has the same background and beliefs and opportunities, where any boy - even one whose father didn't give him several million dollars - can grow up to be president, and everyone worships together at the little white church on Sunday. And those dirty immigrants and uppity women don't ruin things by demanding their basic human rights.

They watch TV and see countless shows with diverse casts set in cities and the message they take away is not, what diverse places where people from different cultures get along, but why has all the wealth and attention passed me by?

a marked increase in those who are baby boomers retired? I'm too sleepy to reread it. Remember boomers were by far the largest boom of babies.

we otherwise employees cannot get retirement till we are 65, for the cheap payback, or 70 for the higher support.

None of which is a survivable sustenance .

It was the newspaper equivalent of: I have a family member who’s a bigot: let me tell you what he said to me the other day about blacks, Jews, and Muslims, because I don’t believe this all came out of his mouth. It’ll only take me two hours so get comfortable.
