conservative in its administration will hurt this Democratic victory. Repukes cannot be swayed by reason or thoughtful and fair treatment. When your enemy is trying to kill you don't put down your knife.

We need a much more aggressive AG. Repukes need to LOSE the understanding that cheating is OK. That voter suppression is OK. That white supremacy is OK. That violating civil rights is OK. They need to fear a Democratic administration not know that anything they do will be forgiven and they can continue to be assholes for the sake of power.

Very disappointing list.

Doug Jones clearly has guts, even though he softpedals his voice. But we need forceful and also sprawling executive experience due to the scope of work.

Sally Yates might be great — she’s brave and clear about the criminality of what she witnessed — but again, maybe not forceful enough / dominant with strength of will. The whining from the right about her bias would be a plus but a GOP Senate would never confirm.

Harvard-educated, 64-year old Deval Patrick might be better than I thought at first. He worked at DOJ under Clinton, civil rights division, including overseeing arson investigations at black churches. His corporate knowledge as managing director at Bain is distasteful to those of us sick of corporate power in politics, but it might provide helpful soft power behind the scenes with Romney and corporate elites. Without clear democratic ownership of the senate, that may become important in confirmation and who knows what else. As governor, he obviously had experience overseeing complex bureaucracies with wide-ranging responsibilities. His polished manner makes it tempting to underestimate him.

established by our founders and developed since by many decades of applied legal principles. Although that 6-3 hard-right SCOTUS majority was created to change that, it's not happened yet.

Not to blame Biden for that, though, or anything that's happened since 2016. HE didn't go around telling voters it wouldn't make any real difference who was elected if it was the Republican or Democratic candidate since there was little difference in the parties. And not to mistake the conservative laws of red states for the federal laws and principles our AG will be applying.

Those who fell for the blizzard of lies from both sides are the weaklings who brought us all down and are the ones to worry about.

Not people of conviction. Whoever our new AG will be is taking on a huge task, one not exactly for the faint hearted and wobbly minded.

Well vetted and respected candidates.

The word you are looking for isn’t “moderate” or “conservative” (those political descriptors don’t belong in a discussion about an attorney general- who should first and foremost be ABOVE politics!) The word is “reasoned” or “honorable”.

He is a brave man. Took on the white supremacist murderers who burned down the church with children inside.

He is a decent, moral person, and very smart. We don't need someone outwardly frothing at the mouth. We do need an honest, courageous person who will apply the law and uphold the Constitution.

He has demonstrated these qualities his whole life - quietly. When he was in the Senate he didn't whine about Democratic Party positions or policies saying he had to support the policies of the Fundie RWNJs in Alabama, he voted for the
Democratic legislation with no complaints.

He's won and lost a Senate seat standing bravely for what is right. He's prosecuted people in his state who had majority cultural support but were murderers. He has the metal to be just what we need for AG.
