Biden expected OMB pick Tanden draws opposition from left and right

President-elect Joe Biden is expected to name Neera Tanden as director of the Office of Management and Budget, according to multiple media reports, drawing angry reactions from progressives and conservatives alike.

In response to a New York Times article about Tanden's expected nomination, the communications director for Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said Tanden, who heads the left-leaning Center for American Progress, "stands zero chance of being confirmed."

Drew Brandewie tweeted that Tanden "has an endless stream of disparaging comments about the Republican Senators whose vote she'll need."

anden's reported selection also sparked angry reactions from the left, such as Brianna Joy Gray, the former press secretary for Sen. Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign, who called Tanden "a woman who is openly disdainful of Bernie Sanders and his coalition, but who is friendly with extreme bigots online." Gray was particularly critical of Tanden's views on Social Security

Appears Neera has solid support from our mighty Democratic voices.

Tanden's creds have well earned her this OMB position.

We are so very fortunate, for the paths that brought all of these appointees to this place in time, took a lifetime of steady growth, accomplishments & personal adherance to the values held by the tenants of the great Democratic Party.

Bravo

....to just about everything and everyone.

Just this morning on Twitter she posted a 26-second cropped video of Cory Booker on Joe Biden's Cognitive Fitness", which happened to have come from Glenn Greenwald.

She also is claiming that Biden would "Veto Medicare for" (she left out the "ALL" ) and is claiming that trump "did more to reach out to the left than Joe Biden".

Sorry, I don't put much stock in her opinions, and she is not a spokesperson for anyone but herself.

As to the OP as a whole, glad you posted it, thanks. It comes as no surprise that Biden's pick would be criticized from the extreme ends of the political spectrum - left and right.

To me, that confirms that Biden's choice of Neera Tanden is a good one and will be lauded by most.

The office is run by hard line policy wonks who have been doing this for decades.

You look at the assistant director of the OMB and it's run by Kelly Kinneen, who has been working there for 15 years (assistant for past 5 years).

Trump got impeached for fucking with the OMB.

As if nobody ever says the most untrue disparaging things about Democrats ALL THE TIME. And something from 2010 that's supposed to prove Democrats are going to totally take away all the Social Security. And she stood next to Hillary Clinton or something.
