that baffles me. We have a radiologist in charge of a pandemic. It is insanity.

isn't based in fact. I think that throughout the Enlightenment and even until now, superstition and paranoia have guided the machinations of humans far more than critical thought or reason.

In this nation alone, chattel slavery was legal for nearly a century after the Age of Reason's close. Women were disenfranchised for another 60 years after that. Workers' rights didn't come about until the 20th century. Blacks were systematically oppressed throughout that century. Same sex unions have only gained widespread legality in the 21st century.

And we won't get into the amounts of money being grifted by the shamans of superstitious collectives and protected by law. Or their outsized influence in the population and government.
