The Repuke strategy---Romney's lies, even suggesting that Obama was corrupt in giving money to energy contributors.....
Coupled with those fools Carlson and Hannity.....and a new Rev. Wright tape.
They thought they were going to get Angry Black Man.
And I mean, Romney tried. He tried to bait the President. And every single time, President Obama didn't take up the gauntlet.
Look back over the debate--Romney kept baiting, and baiting. And Obama took it. He ignored the jabs, and he took that bastard to a draw without breaking a sweat.
But it ain't over. It's an early round.

(6,716 posts)The President looked calm and collected, the OPPOSITE of what they have been portraying him. I think he did what he needed to do. Romney spouted off a lot of stuff tonight that can be used against him immediately.
msanthrope
(37,549 posts)He also got Romney to make cerain stands regarding Ryan's budget, that Biden can pounce on.....
There's a reason no Bain, no 47%..
Oh..and where were the zingers???? The zingers were all going to be responses to Angry Black Man.

(5,342 posts)Obama's thoughts and actions. I think they've always tried to think like a Republican and how they would react to and use certain sound bites.
I think someone is coaching his campaign on the scoundrels and how they think (maybe James Carville?)

(21,642 posts)Romney came across like the high-level boss from hell -- dishonest, uninformed, and overbearing. Not a good combination for a guy who's already fighting accusations that he's lying about his taxes and that he got rich sending American jobs overseas.

(40,687 posts)And my oh my, what a Mr. Shining White Heterosexual Male Romney was too...
I think that's what he meant to be, like the OP says, they'd prepped him for "Angry Black Man."
And they'd have done similar if Hillary Clinton was president, and tried to cast her as the "Strident B***h."
It was a total fuck-up for team Romney. Everyone who has ever suffered under a smarmy boss from hell, which is most of working class U.S.A., probably got that sick feeling in their stomach just looking at Romney -- Mr. Smarmy Boss from hell was serving up shit sandwiches again.

(37,549 posts)Mitt's forgetting---those are GOOD things. They appeal to our base, and to independents.

It's a sad fact of American politics even today. But he's naturally cool, so it takes little effort to avoid trouble.
Meanwhile, Rmoney just gave the Dems a wonderful collection of video clips for ads.

(984 posts)damnn right it's a bishop/ knight press. Obama had to not lash out or be too forceful thus lose this debate. Had he went toe to toe then we would be talking about PBO the angry black. So lose this one let the facts be facts and next one shoot the gap as it will be a "must win"
msanthrope
(37,549 posts)there's not a single clip in there that shows Romney in a good light.

(82,383 posts)It was in 2008. Obama is calm and not "Angry black man" but people complain that Obama wasn't angry enough. At times I wonder - what would happen if Obama followed these people's advice? It might not be so great as they imagine.

@Our4thEstate #ObamaDebateExcuses ZERO.
He allowed Romney the opportunity to be a statesman. Romney, instead, was a BULLY LIAR & it's ALL ON YOUTUBE.

This is exactly right. Romney was definitely trying to bait and Obama didn't fall for it.
It makes sense today especially with Sunnunnu's comments.
msanthrope
(37,549 posts)coincidence. This is a co-ordinated effort to shore up a repuke base that Romney doesn't have yet.
It's also racist dogwhistling at its finest.
