He's not trying to leave the White House in shambles...

He is trying to leave the whole country in shambles.
Mostly out of pure spite.
But also for Biden to look bad and have people say he was better.
He never cared about what his actions do to this country.

And too many in the media and government are standing idly by as if it isn't dire. As if it's just more of the clown show.

estranged from his children. He refused to maintain and repair his house. He left piles of paper on the kitchen table. He stopped paying his bills. He got into fender-benders and paid out-of-pocket so the DMV didn't know about them and revoke his license. He let his dog shit and piss all over furniture and carpets (including my mother's treasured Persian carpet).

When my sister and I offered to organize the bills and to prepare the checks for him to sign, he outright refused and became belligerent. He was angry and told us to leave his stuff alone when we tried to even tidy up. And that included picking up dried dog shit.

Though tempted, we never abandoned him. But he made it hard, so very hard for us. Beyond challenging.

It was like Alice In Wonderland as a documentary.

And like you've read from me before, he disinherited all of us and left $35,000 to the neighbor across the street. His estate was worth more than $1.5 million.

Now that Trump's at it, all the memories are flooding back like PTSD. I agree with the OP. Trump's doing it more out of spite than from dementia.

I also come from an abusive background (though like Candyland compared to yours), and I've been suffering from PTSD for 4+ years, since the first time I saw him on stage with Hillary.

The whole country now knows what it's like to have an abusive, crazy parent.

It hasn't been fun.

...the military has already strongly indicated it will follow our constitutional processes. Trump only has a handful of militia trash on his side, if it hits the fan. I'm not underestimating the danger to our democracy he poses. A third of the country is going to swallow his poison of a "coup", and we are going to be in Weimar territory going forward--the GOP's Stab-In-The-Back myth. But he cannot actually prevent his leaving on Jan 20...

It seems reasonable enough, since he already looks like one! And his fabulous coach and horses that was at his command will turn into White House security, escorting him off the premises because he won't be living there anymore.
