Apropos of a story on MSNBC this morning . . . . . .

. . . . it cannot be said often enough, this man is a humanitarian HERO, role model, and Nobel-deserving treasure.

Chef Jose Andres and his World Central Kitchen. Where need exists, they go.

Here is a recent Time cover.

I am now a monthly donor!

He doesn't even take credit on his main site that his organization was also at many polling locations around US feeding those lined up to vote, in his #ChefsForThePolls initiative!!

to such ppl, seeing a problem sets off a cascade of possible solutions.
some simple, some not so much, and some deceptively so.

Funny, but when I was reading about him, then typing my post, I thought "What if there were 1000 of him, scattered around the globe? Would a statistically significant difference be made?"

I lean towards thinking it just might.

Doing Jeebus' work!

First "met" him on dearly departed Anthony Bourdain show. It was so great - catch it, if you can.

Whatta man! Yes, HERO! i hope someday (in the distant future - may he live long and prosper!), there are churches with stained glass windows designed after this very magazine cover. I have already seen stained glass windows with Albert Schweitzer.

May he and all who help him be blessed by The One who, according to the Bible, used five loaves and two fishes to feed 5,000.

the featured guest. He was AMAZING. Very, very funny. Here is the episode: https://www.npr.org/programs/wait-wait-dont-tell-me/755873508/wait-wait-for-aug-31-2019-with-not-my-job-guest-jos-andr-s

And I have to tell you, there was so much more material they did live that didn't end up on the broadcast version of the show. He really was very quick with jokes and understood the set-ups, etc. It was a great night.

President Obama told Stephen Colbert very apologetically that not awarding one to Dolly was one of his serious regrets. He insisted that he assumed she'd already received one and, therefore, did not pursue the matter. He expressed his hope that President Biden, who won the recent election, should make up for his oversight soon into his Presidency.

(I want to add here that the Presidency is awarded to the WINNER of the election while the LOSER has to go home or, in Trump's case, possibly to jail because as a LOSER he would no longer be protected by the power of his office. So, anyway, Joe Biden was the WINNER while Diaper Donnie was the LOSING LOSER, and I'm sorry but it just feels so goddamned good to be able to say that after 4 years of hell that I cannot restrain myself.)

And, yes. Andres deserves a Nobel prize for his tireless work. He's been everywhere offering food and comfort and love to those in need, those displaced by storm, tragedy and political stupidity.

The man is a national hero.
