https://www.laprogressive.com/new-election-integrity-movement/Personally, I am happy to see this. I think there are systemic problems with the touchscreen voting machines, and the more that the rank and filel Republican gets exposed to the same issues that Democrats have been pointing out for years, the ones that are genuinely interest in electoral reform may come to understand why we have these concerns. There are a lot of ignorant people out there - not stupid, just dealing with a great deal of misinformation with no way of filtering it out, and any kind of education can only help to reduce that ignorance.

(6,936 posts)You mean they want to double down with more of the same voter purging, ID, outlawing vote by mail, lose the right to vote for misdemeanors, no birthright citizenship.
It won't be about integrity. It will be about maintaining white power.

(58,785 posts)might cause real trouble for those Republicans who have the actual jobs of stealing elections. Even briefly would be good.
I'm remembering when the Koch-backed Tea Party went renegade and tried to shut down the government, including of course the big checks flowing out to the Kochs and their cronies. The Kochs had to formally write congress and disclaim all involvement, and then cut their secret flow of money and other support to the TP, which folded without it.
For those who don't remember, the TPer/later trumpist populists are socially conservative but economically progressive -- at least for programs benefiting themselves -- and motivated by antagonism against "elites" and "the establishment." The anti-tax libertarians' big triumph was training them to leave off immigrants and social issues long enough to oppose the "big government spending" that funds their ("keep your damned hands off my" ) Social Security. Not our brightest bulbs.
In any case, angry populists are very dangerous, but we've got a bunch of them out there now, and while they're attacking the voting machines that let them down (maybe physically?!) they won't be doing much worse.

(7,077 posts)Republicans have shown across the board, from environment to taxation to healthcare, they arent nearly as likely to build as they are to destroy.
We will gain their respect when we destroy their racial gerrymander.

(2,574 posts)for Democrats, especially POC, to vote.
With what we've witnessed in Trump's, (and his fascist allies), seditious attempts to override the will of the people, and use courts to appoint him POTUS, it is clear that from now on the fascists will infinitely litigate every presidential election they lose, and many down ballot races they lose as well. Integrity means absolutely nothing to them, as is made self evident by their current continuing ludicrous challenges to what election officials have called the cleanest, most transparent presidential election ever.
They are currently, through their incessant litigation, making folks afraid to use mail in ballots in the future, in an effort to force voters to vote in person from now on, because they can control in person voting to their advantage by limiting the number of polling places in Democratic leaning areas. This is something they currently do wherever and whenever possible, as a matter of policy.
To the fascists, election integrity means suppressing the Democratic vote to the maximum degree possible, in order to ensure that fascists win everywhere that it is possible to significantly suppress the Democratic vote.
Personally, I would prefer that we scrap all electronic voting devices, and use hand counted paper ballots in all elections, hand delivered at the polls, or delivered to county election officials by mail. That makes it as difficult as possible for the fascists to suppress the vote by maliciously limiting the number of polling places in Democratic leaning areas.
If fascists can cheat, they will cheat. What they are doing to our democracy right at this moment is utterly disgraceful, and we need to somehow fix this over the course of next four years, or the fascists will continue to litigate ad nauseum every election they lose by a relatively close margin from here to eternity.
