I just received word that my neighbor who attacked me (and another neighbor) has succumbed to COVID-19. That is certainly not what I wished for her, as before this all happened, she was a good neighbor to me and my family.
On a happier note the neighbor who came to my rescue and got whacked in the head with the rake has tested negative for COVID-19. I am due to retest on Friday the 4th. I remain asymptomatic, but still quarantining. Frankly, with the uptick in positive cases in our area, we are probably in the house for a while. Our freezer is stocked, I have supplies to make bread, and any groceries or meds we need can be delivered.
I hope this finds everyone well. Thank you again for all your support. It has meant the world to me.
Fingers crossed whoever buys the house will be wonderful neighbors.

(16,322 posts)It's really too bad it had to end like that. I hate what she did to you and the other neighbor and wanted her to suffer the consequences but I wouldn't wish this virus on anyone. I'm glad that you and the neighbor have both tested negative.

The house will probably be sold, and you'll get a new neighbor.

(7,907 posts)by her developing COVID-19?
Anyway, try to think kindly of her, she paid the ultimate price.
A good end to the story for you and your other neighbor.
It's personal stories like yours that bring it all home to us.
But be vigilant, there be viruses out there.
Be safe.

(100,133 posts)We lived in one neighborhood 35 years, and the guy next door believed in many things I do not. But he was a good neighbor he was a good man. I would be shocked and heartbroken if he came at me like rustygurls neighbor but if it turned out he was mortally sick when it happened, I think I could find it in my heart to forgive.

(2,813 posts)A study published today in JAMA Network Open shows that 28% of older COVID-19 patients at seven US emergency departments (EDs) had delirium, putting them at higher risk of an intensive care unit (ICU) stay and death.
A research team led by Massachusetts General Hospital scientists found that, of 817 COVID-19 patients 65 and older arriving at EDs, 226 (28%) had delirium, which was the sixth most common of all signs and symptoms. Delirium was a primary symptom in 37 (16%) of patients with delirium. Eighty-four patients with delirium (37%) had no typical COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever or shortness of breath. (Older adults are less likely than younger people to respond to infection with a fever.)

(2,278 posts)But probably of dementia rather than COVID.
Glad the dust seems to be settling and you and other victim are testing well and/or asymptomatic.
In the house is a good idea.
The zany factor appears to be on the rise. Extroversion is not a good character trait right now.

(4,405 posts)The delirium and neurological damage caused by COVID could aggravate an underlying dementia, resulting in the kind of manic rage she expressed at the OP.

(2,851 posts)Simple UTIs can produce crazy-time in the elderly. If they can do it without fevers, I'm pretty sure Covid-19 would do it if there was an underlying dementia-like condition.

(96,935 posts)of something you already know - the whole mess was a sad, tragic event but don't ever feel guilty about her dying - guilt can come creeping up on the decent even when they have nothing to feel guilty about. Especially with such an outcome, her death.
I've had similar happen to me once and even though I did nothing to cause any of the events, when tragedy struck the person causing me harm I felt bad. I felt guilty. Like I should have been nicer instead of standing up for myself. As if my behavior could have changed what happened a little later.
If you find such feelings lurking about, shake them away.
Take care and stay well!
Wishing for you the best new neighbors ever!

(9,950 posts)As for the woman who succumbed to C-19, I would place the majority of blame on right wing propaganda, and the assholes who use it like a scalpel to divide us.
She likely harbored unfocused animus to began with, so her journey to violence was short. Regardless of her personal culpability, you kept your side of your interpersonal street clean, and this tragic mess is solely on her.
I also wish to also suggest letting go of any guilt that may pop up over what could have been done to change the course of what occurred.

(17,501 posts)can wreck havoc on the brain of the elderly. It removes the filter a brain normally puts on itself. That leads to all kinds of unusual talk and behavior. You might not see any symptoms (fever, etc) other than behavior.

Between the vaccine and going on the Biden team he seemed more willing to answer her every question.
Another thought. Do you think Trumps brain could be damaged from Covid-19? He seems much worse.
DeminPennswoods
(17,501 posts)I think one is that he's getting older and the human body and brain don't tend to improve with age. If you look at the 2016 and 2017 Trump, the decline is noticeable. Two, his father had dementia/alzheimers that has a hereditary component to it. Three, there's no doubt he's mentally ill. That's something that also tends to worsen with age.
True Blue American
(18,579 posts)I have seen both dementia, Alzheimers and Parkinsons take strong people down.
Right now I have a friend I have known since he was born have a chip put in. It seems to have really helped his Parkinsons. A long time Missionary in Brazil.
