Data of 243 million Brazilians exposed online via website source code

https://www.zdnet.com/article/data-of-243-million-brazilians-exposed-online-via-website-source-code/

The personal information of more than 243 million Brazilians, including alive and deceased, has been exposed online after web developers left the password for a crucial government database inside the source code of an official Brazilian Ministry of Health's website for at least six months.

Security and Privacy are a myth in the 21st Century.

Security is not a myth though. This just a colossal fuckup by developers.

so later if need be, they can get into the programs to fix things (those programmers you can trust). I did so, but the practice of installing passwords into the source code went away a long time ago, and is usually table driven. Such a sensitive DB should have had more security assigned to it.
