Dear Lawd, Trump is throwing DeJoy under the bus. 🤣
Yes, let's investigate it! All of it! In excruciating detail!
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Whistleblowers reveal that the USPS is responsible for tampering with hundreds of thousands of ballots. @OANN This long time Democrat stronghold got rid of massive numbers, especially in swing states, during and before delivery of the ballots. Well documented evidence!

There will likely be news breaking about crimes Trump & DeJoy committed by kneecapping the USPS.
The tell...
Trump just tweeted more insanity- accusing the USPS of tampering with hundreds of thousands of ballots to hurt him.
He always projects what he is guilty of doing.

(76,702 posts)Postmaster General is selected by the board of governors. They each have 7 year term, and they select the PMG.
Dismissal only is done by the BoG. But, PINO appointed 5 of them.
So, unless they step down so Biden can replace them, and they choose to dump DeJoy, he can only be pressured to step down, but POTUS can just send him packing.
Unfortunately.

(76,702 posts)Seven year terms, approved by Congress. I don't recall every detail, but I think removal needs to be for cause and also approved by Congress.
The term was set in the 70s (I think) because of cronyism appointments. Was supposed to prevent every governor from being a short term political appointment.
Not working out in the best of ways right now.

(8,812 posts)but not arriving in time to be counted in various states (reported just a few days ago).
I think legal pathways should be explored wrt Dejoy not conducting sweeps as ordered by the court, not giving priority to ballots, dismantling sorting machines, and depriving tens of thousands of voters their rights. USPS and WH should be investigated vigorously for months...due to clear suppression and civil rights violations. Then the ballots should be counted to see if any close down-ballot races would have been changed.
The whole usps episode is a treacherous, undemocratic, outrageous abuse of power and likely illegal...but only if investigated and/or lawsuits brought. Were the voters whose ballots were mailed but not delivered in a timely manner notified? If so, could they not enter a class action suit, perhaps with the help of the aclu, moveon, or other organizations? Seems super important....

Actually, there wasn't much -- if any -- proof of ballots being delayed unless voters were stupid enough to mail a ballot a few days before Nov 3. In that case, it's obvious who was at fault.
wiggs
(8,812 posts)capabilities were changed to intentionally slow down delivery of ballots around election time...the result appears to be that tens of thousands of ballots could have been delayed just long enough not to arrive in a timely manner.
It took court orders to get the usps to perform its basic function according to past practice re ballots, and it's fortunate that more ballots weren't affected. Why did this happen? And whose idea was it? How many voters were disenfranchised in which states? Were laws broken? Were court orders followed or not? We've heard about destruction of sorting machines, elimination of overtime, reduction of mail drop boxes, empty delivery trucks which weren't allowed to wait to be loaded, reclassification of mailed ballots below priority, etc and there are reports of how much longer mail took to be delivered around election time...how many other policies were there that we didn't hear about that hamstrung prompt delivery? Is there a relationship between where mail is slowest and red/blue areas?
DeJoy was a finance chairman of the RNC along with Michael Cohen (convict and liar) and Elliott Broidy (recently in the news for the bribery/pardon scandal and long involved in other 2016 Russia problems). He didn't run these policy changes through the USPS board, which is improper. He demoted or removed 24 senior USPS officials upon taking office. He gave 2.4 million to Trump and the RNC in 2020. We know Trump wanted to stop mail-in voting.
What is there left that SHOULDN'T be investigated?
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)removed for years (something like 200,000 since the 1980s, besides every house is it's on mail box when you get right down to it), overtime has been out of control for years, etc. I think postal workers and local postmasters have better sense than to be driving delivery trucks around empty, unless they hold up operations down the line. The fact is ballots were delivered.
Would love to see a citation for ballots being designated below priority mail. The fact is, the USPS was harder hit than any government agency by CV19, so delays should have been expected, just like those that happened with FedEX and UPS.

US Postal Service workers likely delivered more than 99.9% of the nations mail ballots in-time to be counted, NBCLX reports.
However, it also appears the USPS disenfranchised tens of thousands of voters who mailed legally-cast ballots the week before the election through substandard performance.
NBCLX analyzed election records as well as postal records obtained through federal court filings to find out how many ballots, cast the week before the election, were ultimately rejected But records indicate the figure is likely no more than a few thousand votes in any given state not enough to change the results of a single battleground in 2020.
If no races were affected then there will be no suit.

Meanwhile, how is this going to work in the Georgia run-offs? So, we are told almost a million mail ballots have been requested. Will these be in dispute?
I see no end to the mischief.
I think the whole mail-in ballot fight has just been to cause the states to miss their deadlines for certification. Then, Trump stood a chance of picking his own slate of Electors. I think that's why the arguments submitted were so idiotic, as it didn't matter as long as time was wasted.
