There will be NO noticable "boycott" of the January 5th Georgia elections by Trump supporters.

Their hate for all things Democratic is too strong. They may cuss Loeffler and Perdue, but they will do it as they are voting for them.

As the old saying goes: "At election time, Democrats want to 'fall in love'---Republicans 'fall in line' ".

We can't expect Republicans to hand it to us; we have to take it from them!

He is, after all, an extremely visible asshole with the biggest list of faults, malicious acts, personality defects and potential crimes a major US politician has ever had. His approval rating was always well below the disapproval number. We need everyone in Georgia who voted against him to turn out again to vote for the Dem senate candidates (or against the Republicans; both are corrupt, so there's something to work with there). And more, preferably.

Yes, these voters are devoted only to Trump. They are the Trump cult of personality. A good indicator is all the special and off-year elections Dems when Trump was not on the ballot.

I would expect the Rs who voted for Biden will vote again and reprise their preference for Rs aside from Trump.

There's been a lot said about how the Dems lost ground in the House and didn't pick up any Senate seats that were supposed to be vulnerable. I still think it's because the Republican Party DID cheat...just not enough. I'm still trying to figure out how, after the last four years, the absolute proof that he knew how bad COVID was when it hit, and all the other fucking sociopathic bullshit he's done, 7 million MORE people voted for that maniac. The rethugs will flood the media with horror stories about the takeover of Socialism if the Dems take the Senate. Republicans WILL fall in line, and some Dems will stay home because our candidate isn't "perfect". We have to remember the republican vote was split in the general...they'll all be voting for the same person in this election.

But I have great faith in Stacey Abrams to turn out the vote in Georgia. I'll bet the GOP is wishing now that they had let her win the governorship.

The problem with Wood is that he's a wasted talent. He's got a terrible script to memorize.

Televangelism is knocking on Wood's door. He'd make millions. He's way better than Jim and Tammy Bakker. He can charge admission.

But getting involved in defending Trump is a dead end alley. Trump will use Wood for what he can get, then dump him, as he dumps everyone else.

It won't take much to turn the election wins to Democrats. They won Georgia by a relatively small margin. I have faith that Stacey Abrams has the talent and energy to push the Dems over the top. It only takes a small percentage of votes, but the work is difficult. It can be done.

34. It doesn't have to be very big at all, really ...
Sun Dec 6, 2020, 12:41 PM
Dec 2020

It just has to be big enough.

As close as that election was, just a few hundred or a couple thou staying home out of disgust (or giving their 'principle' vote to a alternative candidate' would be enough to lose the election for 'em.

Still, of course, there'll be reason for concern. I'd be insane if I didn't acknowledge that. But let's not sink our boat early! There is sensible reason for optimism, and optimism, my friends, is a political act. Every one of of us that takes a realistically optimistic view makes the Republicans mad as hell and makes them cry. They depend on us to do their demoralization on us FOR them. And, since a few weeks before the big election, I decided to take the optimistic view and it's helped.

I'm not saying be pie-in-the-sky cheerful, or deny reality. What I am saying is that we know everything can go wrong, but we do ourselves a favor if we acknowledge that there is a chance also that it can go right. We can always hedge our bets on despair, after all, if we lose this one, we have the rest of our lives to be sad about it.

Go ahead and expect the worst if you must. But aim for the best. We just might hit it.
