Republican state labor commissioner in North Carolina says there's no need for any workplace rules to keep people safe from COVID because "the virus has not been proven likely to cause death or serious physical harm."

RALEIGH — State Rep. Josh Dobson won the race to become N.C.’s next Labor Commissioner, succeeding the retiring Cherie Berry.

Dobson, a Republican, served in the N.C. House representing District 85 since 2013. He was a chair of the Health Committee and the Appropriations Committee in the most recent legislative session.

Dobson defeated Democrat Jessica Holmes, a member of the Wake County Board of Commissioners.
