The Covid pandemic has exposed the need for UHC.
The diabetes epidemic has exposed the need for UHC. Citing CDC stats..
https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/library/features/diabetes-stat-report.html
34.2 million Americans have diabetes. 1 in 10. Many of them don't know it and are undiagnosed.
88 million have pre-diabetes. Many of them don't know it. Because they may have difficulties seeing a doctor and getting labs done. For the sake of your health, have your glucose and A1C checked. Diabetes is fully treatable with today's medicine and dietary changes.
Heart disease, cancer, strokes have exposed the need for UHC. Many of these afflictions could be avoided with preventative health care and early intervention and diagnosis. UHC will fix the problem that prevents too many from seeing there docs and getting diagnosed.
The earlier we detect disease the better we are at treating it and living healthier lives.
Vaccinations have likely saved more lives than any other factor in our human history..
UHC could put an end to so much suffering in our country, perhaps more than any other factor in our nation's history.
Now is the time to make the case for UHC. (Jan 20th, of course)

(68,798 posts)is through a public option added to the ACA. Even if we got the Senate, we don't have the votes for universal coverage...can we please set goals that are achievable? The ACA was hard enough to implement. Can you imagine attempting to put the entire country on MFA during a pandemic and what is likely a depression?
I would add I have looked at Medicare for my sis in law...not great to say the least and expensive. And those who don't want to be forced on any insurance will destroy us in 2022 and beyond. The ACA is very popular and we can work with it to expand coverage for everyone.
