I have encouraged her to run if the seat is open as that is her congressional district and she would have the immediate support of the national Bernie movement, said Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), a fellow former Sanders campaign co-chair. Shed be a fantastic ally for the movement in Congress.
Reached by phone, Turner was coy. Currently, there is no vacancy in the district and if it becomes vacant, things will unfold as they should, she said.
Fudge has been boosted by the Congressional Black Caucus for a Cabinet role. On Tuesday, close Biden ally and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn told Morning Joe that it may not be at Agriculture, but she will be nominated to be in the Cabinet.

I thought she left the Democratic Party after her "People's Party" Convention in August?
Now it is time for us to ask: What kind of world do we want to build from the ashes of this pandemic and economic depression?
One week after the Democratic and Republican national conventions, people from all walks of life will come together to discuss the state of the nation and plans to form a major new political party in America. A party free of corporate money and influence. A peoples party.
Join us on Sunday, August 30, from 4-7 pm Eastern Time for The Peoples Convention.

(15,325 posts)Can she be employeed by a big Corporate firm as a K Street Lobbyist AND be a Congressperson too?
Thought that was a taboo demand from Nina's own rantings?
"Lobbyists cannot also be members of the Senate & House!!" She screeched.
for nina
No, please. Fudge is my congresswoman, and while she's no Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, I don't want Turner representing me.

That too. Thank goodness.

(58,785 posts)but her far-left/right anti-Democratic hostilities shining over there should help un-confuse a lot of people on the left.
And given all you're referring to, I would totally wish a highly misogynistic, hostile workplace on her and an attack dog female on them!
Me.

(1,725 posts)Yeah, it would be so cool if she took the bluest district in the bluest part of the state and made sure she fought every single policy that the new Democratic president tried to get accomplished - just because she's, you know, an attack dog female, and can - and then decided to back some 3rd party candidate against the Democrat who will run against Portman in 2022.
I'm with you.

(67,782 posts)....with an attitude like that?
Nina Turner, assessing the choice of Biden against President Donald Trump in the November presidential election, told The Atlantic: Its like saying to somebody, You have a bowl of shit in front of you, and all youve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing. Its still shit.

(21,920 posts)She is by far the most well-known. Don't underestimate her chances of winning for one second. She's not Cori Bush (who still won), she will get millions more in donations.

(53,214 posts)right now, unless there is a guarantee that a Democrat will fill the seat. Ohio is much too risky and Turner is probably a bad bet.

(29,091 posts)Surprised she wants to run as a Democrat. Guess the Fudge seat is seducing her.

(57,760 posts)No way she qualifies as a Democrat. I'm sick of these people who hate the party using its resources to run for office. That said, I don't think she has a chance of hell of being elected.

(29,091 posts)That is disqualifying. Disgusting. I wonder what The Movement for a People's Party's other members think about that.

(180,085 posts)I have trouble understanding why anyone would hire Turner as a lobbyist. Her contacts are not people who have had gotten major legislation adopted in the real world.
Just absolutely NO. Shes not a democrat. Shes a self serving opportunist. Thats all.

for a long list of reasons, and why she wouldn't have much progressive cred after working as a K street corporate lobbyist.
You may be confusing people saying she "shouldn't" run with she "can't" run.
Is that clearer?
