(14,765 posts)I'm in Ohio but Dayton...I hope our Democratic Party places a sincere Democrat to run...Question...Does republican governor appoint her temp replacement?
brush
(61,033 posts)Rep. Fudge's resignation (I assume that takes place in Jan.) that will be. Her district is blue so I don't know what a republican governor will do in that scenario.
Does anyone else know?

Just asking ??

(42,862 posts)... she has zero loyalty to the Democratic party, and zero desire in uniting or strengthening the Democratic party. She doesn't have a good track record of winning, so I'm sure she'd lose against anyone.

Congratulations to Rep. Fudge, and I like the Biden-Harris picks over the past two weeks! They are really handling this beautifully.

She's extremely talented, of course, and a strong progressive Democrat, so becoming head of HUD will be an opportunity to demonstrate just how much. Obviously President-Elect Biden thinks so.
And as a side show, we may get to see Nina Turner run for Rep. Fudge's congressional seat.

(61,033 posts)Rep., does the fact that Rep. Fudge's district is blue have any bearing on his choice, or is that just my wishful thinking?
Nina Turner, it's been reported, is considering running which could create a run-off situation if she runs against a real Democrat and a republican.

(61,033 posts)she tried to start? Rep. Fudge will not be endorsing someone who has continually attacked the Democratic Party and some of it's candidates and policies for several years now.

(15,325 posts)She hates Joe Biden & Harris & anyone named Democrat.
I looked at her & Sarandon's twitter feed after Biden won the primary & it was the most disgusting 3rd party hate speak I have read.
It's where the red rosies like Sirota & Bragman gather to rage on the Dem Party.
It's pretty sickening.
I hope Rep Fudge has a solid Democrat in mind to endorse & follow her path.
She won't let Joe Biden be demoralized by the Ninas of the world.
I really like Marcia Fudge & am quite pleased with Joe's choices.

The Governor cannot fill the vacancy. However, it is unclear how long he can leave the seat unfilled by not immediately scheduling a special election.

(7,509 posts)From the Politico article:
Fudge lamented just last month in an interview with POLITICO that Black policymakers have traditionally been relegated to just a handful of Cabinet positions including HUD secretary.
As this country becomes more and more diverse, we're going to have to stop looking at only certain agencies as those that people like me fit in, she said. You know, it's always we want to put the Black person in Labor or HUD.

I totally get the concerns expressed. After all, it's almost impossible to conceive that a rational plan is actually in place. After all, it's been so long since conventional wisdom and reason have prevailed...
