What is your considered opinion about 17 states joining the Texas suit at SCOTUS?

Remember, they only have to win with this shit once and SCOTUS is conservative.

Will Trump call up individual members?

Will any cave due to the additional states and Trump's pressure.

How many justices does he need for the case to be heard?

Bottom line question: Should we worry?

But I don’t get it, Trump and his surrogates have proven time and again for 4 years they will do anything to survive- anything. Break any law, call in any favor, silence any critic, anything.

My belief is the Supreme Court, even the conservatives on it, believe in rule of law and have no desire to have this mess attached to them in any way and this effort will go nowhere.

But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little concerned, that I might be wrong.

in four years. I don’t think it’s going anywhere and they don’t have standing. This seems very basic to me.

If they had an issue with it they should’ve sued BEFORE the election. The first question (if SCOTUS decides to hear it) should be, “would you have brought this case if Trump had won and why didn’t you sue Florida and other states that had mail in voting?”

Texas changed their voting rules to allow drive-thru voting in response to the pandemic. Republicans in Texas went to court claiming that the drive-thru voting violated the Constitution.

DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, IN HIS PERSONAL CAPACITY AS CANDIDATE FOR RE-ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT,
Plaintiff in Intervention.

Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, respectfully seeks leave to intervene in the pending original jurisdiction matter of State of Texas v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, et al., No. 22O155 (filed Dec. 7, 2020).

Plaintiff in Intervention seeks leave to file the accompanying Bill of Complaint in Intervention against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the States of Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin (“Defendant States”), challenging their administration of the 2020 presidential election.

I've not seen who is authorizing these suits, governors or state secs or whatever, but seems to me that there must be statutes prohibiting the use of one's office to engage in political ratfucking and these geniuses should be held accountable. That is the key problem: they do this because the won't be held accountable for it even though it's practically criminal. They are obviously playing for the rabid base and probably don't expect to win, just making a show for the stooges. So what if they should win? What kind of whirlwind might they encounter?

Wed Dec 9, 2020, 07:03 PM

...in the long run, I'm less optimistic.

This suit is farcical, but the actions of these other states help to cement the principle that "anything goes" in an election, and that the casting and tabulation of the votes, rather than being the climax and conclusion to a race, is merely the first skirmish in a longer war in which the will of the people (even filtered through the absurdity that is the electoral college) is only one of many factors determining who takes power -- and a possibly-larger factor is who is already in power to sway the outcome.

No, I don't think this effort will succeed, but, as with Pandora's Box, once it's opened, it's inevitable that, sooner or later, one of them will. My best case scenario this time is that the Justices, instead of issuing another one-sentence denial, explicitly throw this out on the grounds that a state has no standing to challenge another state's election process. Unless we get that, we'll be seeing this over and over in the future...and, one time, we won't be so lucky.

TEXAS is not suing because states changed rules, they are suing because drumpf lost. THAT'S IT.

i wish the rest of these fuckers would just break off and start their own country and leave us the fuck alone. give every decent human being in these states a check for moving expenses so they don't get stuck in Dumbfuckistan, and likewise give every piece of shit living in the USA a check so they can go to Dumbfuckistan.
