In other mall Santa news, a man portraying Mr. Claus at an Illinois shopping center brought a 4-year-old boy to tears when he said he would not bring the lad a Nerf gun for Christmas. Nope. No guns, the Santa at the Harlem Irving Plaza Mall said upon hearing the boys request, the Hill reports. I had to watch my sweet little boy fight back tears because Santa told him 'no' because of his own personal beliefs, the boys mother wrote on Facebook. The mall sent another Santa to the boys house the next day to deliver a Nerf gun, per KTVU.

(46,228 posts)And the reference was to Santa's "personal beliefs" not the child.
I'd fire Santa in a heartbeat.

I at first read it as the 4 year olds personal beliefs

(5,020 posts)Hmm, instead of a gun, how about Legos? A bike? Oh, you really want a gun? Well let's think about it a while. A telescope can be lots of fun. Ok well bye, Merry Christmas, I hope your wishes come true but I'm still thinking of that bike.

The store had the right idea sending the second Santa to the kid's home with a Nerf gun.

(12,772 posts)A mall in Chicago has apologized and delivered a surprise to a young boy who was told by a mall Santa Claus that he could not have a toy gun for Christmas.
Video posted by the boy's mother on Facebook shows Michael asking a Santa at the Harlem Irving Plaza Mall for a nerf gun.
"No, I ... nope. No guns," the Santa replied. "Not even a Nerf gun. If your dad wants to bring it to you that's fine, but I can't bring it to you. What else would you like?"
The boy eventually breaks into tears
