GOP lawmaker who said there was a 'political agenda' behind COVID coverage prays for a 'miracle'

"Rep. David Byrd (R-TN) made a post on Facebook this Thursday saying that he may be soon placed on a ventilator due to coronavirus, and asked people to pray for him.

“I really need a miracle today!!” Byrd wrote Thursday. “My doctor said if my oxygen level doesn’t improve then he has no choice but to put me on a ventilator. So please pray that God will breathe His healing spirit into my lungs!!”

Byrd was flown by helicopter from Wayne County Hospital to St. Thomas in Nashville, where he still remains. According to the Tennessean, he was among the nearly 70 House Republicans who attended a caucus meeting held in the House chamber on November 24. A week and a half later, he was hospitalized with the virus. Reports say he was seen on the House floor without a mask. Just days before, he hosted a dinner for dozens of his fellow caucus members at a restaurant.

Byrd is at least the second House Republican to be hospitalized with coronavirus.

As the Tennessean points out, Byrd and GOP Rep. Mike Carter, who was placed in the ICU with coronavirus in August, supported a House resolution stating that “mainstream media has sensationalized the reporting on COVID-19 in the service of political agendas.”

I'd like him to find his "miracle" in the arms of his God...so his God can tell him what an idiot he was..."I gave you all of the science you needed, and you turned out to be a total dick, about it! By the way...because you're such a horse's ass...you get to meet my other son, the one who tried to take over!"

sometimes I don't have much time to read - and scan OPs and comments to get the gist without a deep read. The snippet wasn't clear whether it was a state rep or us rep. I wondered (didn't even get to the point of considering a open House seat) . Thanks.

They gained because he was an ass...and they stood around like a bunch of bobble-heads, doing nothing(as far as I can see, they did nothing), if he dies they'll get to know first hand how other families feel!!!

They do not take any responsibility for their decisions when they should know better. These are people who are elected to represent the public in writing and deciding upon public policy. They act like fools running around denying and decrying scientific knowledge and then when they get sick they pray, and they lament. I doubt that this guy cares one lick about those Tennesseans who are sick or have died of COVID-19, but he sure wants your sympathy and prayers.

The mainstream media has portrayed COVID-19 in the service of political agendas, those agendas are "keeping the public safe from a potentially deadly disease" and "urging our representatives to craft good public policy based on scientific knowledge".
