(4,094 posts)What is this, I read it and I don't believe it...So you want a party of Lemmings, "just sit down and stay quiet, your opinion is not valid, you must follow the leader"...I don't believe this...
AOC is an asset to the Democratic Party, even President Obama thinks so, he wants a bigger platform for her and you want her to sit in the corner and keep her mouth shut???
I really don't believe I would read something like this in DU.

This has been a problem in NYC and other cities for at least a century when times are bad. During the Great Depression there were shanty towns showing up around the city and country, dubbed "Hooverville".
In New York City there were Hoovervilles in Riverside Park, East 10th Street, and Red Hook (Brooklyn).
One of the biggest was in Central Park in Manhattan:

There were others in Seattle, Central Ohio, St. Louis, and Washington DC.
It's no surprise that such conditions are returning due to the pandemic. Now, the question that should be posed to our members of Congress and Senate is:
What do you propose to do about it?
