Texas attorney general records in Paxton probe

Federal agents served at least one subpoena Wednesday on the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in an ongoing investigation into allegations that Paxton abused his authority by helping a friend and campaign donor.

Three sources confirmed to the American-Statesman and KVUE-TV that FBI agents delivered the request for information to the agency’s headquarters on West 14th Street. The sources did not immediately know how many subpoenas were issued or what information FBI agents sought.

Federal authorities are investigating claims by former top Paxton aides that he used his position to aid Austin investor Nate Paul, whose offices were raided by the FBI last year.

FBI spokeswoman Michelle Lee said Thursday that she could not comment, and the agency has not publicly confirmed an investigation. A spokesman for the attorney general’s office did not return calls seeking comment, but Paxton has denied any wrongdoing.

Indirectly? Well, I would put nothing past him.

Paxton had several attorneys in his own office blow the whistle alleging corrupt behavior regarding a major donor of his. He's fired the whistleblowers.

Does he have a motive to angle for one of those blanket pardons? Hell, yes.

Is he likely to be putting himself at risk of having committed state-level crimes by suborning perjury and attacking their elections? I'm not a lawyer, but I'd think it's highly likely.

AG Paxton graduated from U. Virginia Law, not a shabby law school. Surely, he is an intelligent guy. Having excluded one of two possibilities, the truth must be the remaining possibility.

It's all transactional with the Organized Crime Party. If I help you commit treason, will you give me a "get out of jail free" card?

I’m guessing since the FBI is involved it must be a federal crime. Otherwise Drumpf couldn’t pardon him.

Full Pardon for Hunter. That will blow up some repig heads. Loose Knobs and Shannity will blow a head gasket, maybe fatal one.
