If Trump is not charged with any Federal crimes, he will escape any state charges?

We hear a lot about NY's AG and the SDNY and how they will make life a living hell for Donald Trump when he is out of office.

I am not convinced that will happen.

He committed his crimes in NYC for the last 40 years and contributed to every politician that came along and never was charged with anything. He did not start committing crimes once he became the president. He has been committing crimes forever.

So, if the new Attorney-General and the FBI refuse to investigate and prosecute, the Trump Family will escape all legal scrutiny, in my opinion.

From what we are experiencing as a nation, at this very moment, he should be prosecuted. What charges??

You name it.

2. He is being investigated by the Manhattan DA for state crimes. The SDNY is federal.

The state investigation is unrelated to anything that SDNY might do. Some statutes of limitations for state crimes might have expired, but it's likely he hasn't stopped criming for a minute in his life and there are still state crimes for which he could be charged by NY State. There's no reason to believe the current Manhattan DA will be affected by any decisions made by federal prosecutors; there are different crimes involved.

5. He got away with a lot back in the day because, as we've seen, it's extraordinarily hard to pin him

Local law enforcement just didn't have the time, staff or means to untangle his Byzantine corporate and personal shenanigans. It probably wasn't deemed worth it to spend years in court and millions of dollars going after a two bit hustler like him.

But once he became president and he began to abuse his power in people's faces and Mueller and Congress started investigating him, it became easier for NY to take up the investigation. They will be relying heavily on what the Mueller investigators, SDNY and Congress dug up.

I think first, they're going after him for tax fraud since they can now compare his state and federal tax returns with his other financial records and have conclusive proof he filed fraudulent state tax returns and submitted false documentation to the state, banks, insurance companies, etc. And his obnoxious criminal offspring, too.

I think he and his family are soon going to bitterly regret that he ever ran for president.

6. I sincerely doubt that anything will happen to Trump and his family

I don't think there's enough political courage to do anything to them. Biden and his team know that there would be violent riots if they did. I don't see them instigating something that would trigger that. It's a shame.

8. SDNY is federal, not state. He should be charged w/obstruction, perjury, sedition, fraud

Just for starters.

If The Trump cabal escapes justice, Biden will be a failed president, and the next, more competent GOP autocrat in the WH will be America’s final president.
