Any good left-wing conspiracies out there?

The other day on the radio I heard that a current right-wing conspiracy is that the covid vaccine will turn us all into walking 5G antennas. I had to laugh at that one, and if it improves my cell reception in rural America I'm all for it.

We all read and hear about right-wing conspiracies, but I can't recall any recent or even recent past left-wing conspiracies. Is there such a thing, and if so are the conspiracies supported by more than a very small percentage of people?

LIHOP?

Also still entirely possible in my book and a lot less unlikely than MIHOP. Which is not to say they thought it would be as bad as it was if they did LIHOP.

And this wasn't a strictly 'left wing' conspiracy. Klayman & Judicial Watch were some of the original Truthers.

They certainly did take advantage of the tragedy, of that there is no doubt. Cheney and his pals wanted to make their Project for a New American Century a reality and GW was just itching to get into Iraq and take out Saddam. (Presidents with "daddy issues" can really be dangerous.) Meanwhile, a lot of people made a ton of money and people in the Middle East are still living with the repercussions.

I don't buy a lot of the conspiracy theories, but I still seriously doubt the government's official version.

to take action and their blocking of action by the institutions many of them helped create to stop pandemics.

That doesn't mean the incompetence and callous negligence intrinsic to corrupt authoritarians in government couldn't also have played parts, and I expect some of that to come out also.

Early last summer, I heard Maddow and another evening anchor speak briefly of that de facto and well documented LIH and the need for investigation later of that and question of "OP," the why you speak of, but they both said for now all attention needed to be on the pandemic itself and stopping it. I'm sure they're the tip of the iceberg on that. Looking like at least 400,000 dead alone, could be half a million, before this is over.

I recall reading of some in the 80s when I used to read all the political magazines, including fringe ones.

The conspiracy at the top to control the whole planet, usually by corporations, has always existed.

I heard a black woman on the radio declare that AIDS, back in the 80s, was a deliberate act of genocide against black people. So of course that meant is was made in a lab and deliberately released. It seemed to affect gay men and heroin addicts most, not black people as a group, maybe that was unintended.

911 truthers could have come from the left, because the attempts at more restrictions on liberty in the name of preventing terrorism was the reason Cheney and Bush made the conspiracy. It is now almost quaint to think how we feared Bush was trying to become a dictator.

the farther you go, the more. And it overlaps with conspiracism from the right. A tendency to conspiracist reactions is a personality trait, part of a cluster of problem traits that some just have so strongly that it derails rationality. But this era fosters it to pathologic degrees.

We're also in an era of increase in anti-science (or just "beyond science" wisdom as some think of it) woo, particularly among millennials. Part of the same syndrome, of course.

And also of course, and no coincidence at all, this is an era when intense dishonesty to support whatever one wants is so common as to be almost normalized, with strong overlap with conspiracism among many. The Nina Turner and Trump types would have shot themselves down with their..."alternative facts" in another era, but in this one toxic numbers of voters require them, a qualification for the leaders they'll support.

Just one instance of conspiracy agitators Nina Turner and Sirota doing their usual pushing of a fictional giant conspiracy of Democrats and business against "the people" and environment. We see this delusion fed everywhere to the hapless victims who trust LW politicians as manipulative as anyone the right produces.

In case you don't know, President-Elect Biden is one of the earliest and strongest climate warriors in government, an extremely valuable ally for almost a half century to all real activist groups in this fight. But the LW conspiracy spreaders and their hapless victims claim he's an "corrupt corporatist" demon burning down the planet for greed.

Senator Biden to the senate in 1986: "Life on this planet exists only under highly specialized circumstances. Indeed, so special are these circumstances that even a small rise in temperature could disrupt the entire complicated environment that has nurtured life as we know it."

Greta Thunberger endorsed Biden for president, but you'll never hear it from Sirota or Turner, or any of their sort, because that doesn't fit the conspiracy they're peddling.

1. The CIA was instrumental in distributing crack cocaine into America’s inner cities in the 1980s.
2. The moon landing was faked.

Link:
https://www.publicpolicypolling.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PPP_Release_National_ConspiracyTheories_040213.pdf

I'm especially surprised by the moon landing survey results! It seems more likely to me that anti-government Republicans would think they were faked. The percentages were very small, regardless.

Conservatives were more likely to believe the other conspiracy ideas, or there was little difference.

I was also surprised that conservatives were more likely to think the JFK assassination was a multi-person conspiracy.

* Facts presented in the mainstream media cannot be believed because the secret cabal is controlling everything. (This goes for science too)
