Yes or no, black or white, right or wrong. Nuance appears to be weakness to conservatives. If you have to use more than a couple of sentences to explain something, the start to classify it as "elitist". I think it goes to "fear". Conservatives seem to crave stability and authority. Things that are too complicated scare them so they reject it in favor of simple answers.
