"Just because you're old, doesn't mean you're at risk"

I heard that on the news a few minutes ago, and I agree.

I'm 66, and because of that number I may be eligible to get the vaccine sooner than others. I want it, and I want it soon. However, I'm really not at risk. I don't work, and I really don't NEED to go into public places. I'm in relatively good health with no underlying conditions.

I'm more than happy to wait.

..health care worker so he may get it soon. I'm 70 and in better health than he is (hes a cancer survivor..I don't even get colds). I never go anywhere except once a week to one store to get items I need. He works every day but his routine and his work environment is actually his bubble and he rarely goes out of it. I'm fine with waiting..if the dose that goes to me, means someone else wont get it..Im fine with stepping aside...but I will get it.

as you claim, but your argument assumes that means you’re safer than “average” instead of one of the many who end up slammed due to some personal factor.

When I thought I had Covid, I immediately rechecked mortality statistics to reassure myself of my good chances, and it was a real comfort I recommend to others, but I didn’t fool myself that they were as valid for ME as for the large population I am allocated to.

Assuming my doctor recommends it. I'm 68 and most of my friends and family are about the same age. I want to make sure I'm vaccinated so that I'm not a burden on my wife, and so that I know I'm not a carrier of any kind.

I am so lucky that I am able to isolate. I don't like it, but I can do it.

One of my sons just told me that another son is planning a family Christmas. I told them I already have prior plans (to stay home, have treats, watch movies, read, etc.) I'm not going to judge them for assessing their risks and making their decisions. I'm only responsible for my own decision.

If it weren't for video chats, I don't know if I could have the resolve that I have at this moment in time.

I have breathing problems. Some are from a birth defect, the rest are behavior. I still want to be around for a few more years. I will be especially pissed if I die from COVID-19.

I have raised my two sons to be good human beings. I had a job I never thought I would and enjoyed it. I got to travel a little and see the world. What is left is a little selfish enjoyment.

Sending good strong thought for your daughter and for her long and more healthy life.

with underlying conditions that are well controlled. I'm retired and don't need to get out much. I'd rather the teachers get it first. My grand-kids have been doing the zoom thing and it's really not working for them.

Just my two cents.

And I want the kids in my family to get back to real life. I'm really worried about how this is affecting them.

Please do get the vaccine as soon as you can. You're a priority, so you really should get it soon.

I think we all need to remember that there are more than a few people who won't want the vaccine for a variety of reasons. I think those of us who want it are going to get it sooner than we think. Wishful thinking? Possibly. But I remain optimistic.

but I spoke to my doctor last summer and he said about April for the vaccine. He said to do my medical appointments in summer because transmission was low around this part of the country - so I did. I don't if he meant that the vaccine would come out in April or that's when it would be available to me. I'm thinking April.

It's going to be interesting to see how many refuse to get vaccinated. I know two so far in my personal life. I don't agree with their way of thinking, but I can't say I'm on board (yet) with making it mandatory.

I work in healthcare. I also don't mind being a Guinea pig. I tried to get on a vaccine clinical study where I work and was not selected. I just applied for another one, not connected to my job, where I could be given a vaccine or a placebo. I have yet to hear anything.

As people get older thier immune system is not what it was at a younger age of course this is something you cannot feel, but when it's attacked such as with Covid-19, you will know it.

Just some food for thought.

more convenient to get it whenever it comes to you based on your age even if you may not be as much at risk .

And young people who are at risk due to conditions and whatever else will also be included in part of the earlier groups that get vaccinated.
