6. Well, the vote is scheduled for 2 PM.

Most of Michigan is in the Eastern Time Zone, but a few counties are in the Central Zone. I assume that 2 PM is EST, which has already passed there right now.

So, the electors must be in the building by now. Where are the hooligans, though? Maybe they got the time wrong, or missed the bus, or something. Or maybe they just won't show, after all that blustering they did.

That's why all of the folderol over the election of the alternate. They're carrying around the certificate of election to each elector for signing, announcing their names as they go. This is a very, very formal proceeding.

This is the pinnacle of orderly government processes. There's no rush, so they're doing it very formally and precisely. It's one of the most important jobs in the country today. They're treating it as such.

Pomp and Circumstance is in order, it seems.
