I live in a Senior mobile home park, and am fortunate to have very good neighbors. I don't discuss politics much with them, but I think there may be a few Trump voters on my street of 14 mobile homes.
On January 20th, I will go out early in the morning and put out my flag for the first time in four years. It will be upside down. I figure people may think I'm doing this because I don't like Biden being sworn in. But as soon as he takes the oath, I will turn the flag right side up.
We have two chairs out in front where my wife and I usually have our coffee and talk with any neighbors passing by. We will be sitting there drinking a bottle of champaign after I flip the flag, and I will leave the empty bottle sitting there for a few days, I think.

(9,650 posts)I've already talked to my Democratic neighbors, and we are planning a champagne party in the street. With social distancing and masks!
My official flagpole is broken. Can't afford a new one right now.
But I have one that hangs off of the house, so for the first time in four years I can also fly an American flag!

(1,002 posts)It'll be 9 am on the west coast as Biden's sworn in at noon. So I think I'll borrow your idea -- except have mimosas and pumpkin pie

will be next door in FL by then, gay partners from a red state, and we'll be sitting out, properly distanced and enjoying the sun (hope!) and beautiful views out over our freshwater marsh. If not, on our covered porch with the same. These guys won't think noon's too early to toast the future. Guessing another neighbor and her boyfriend will likely be strolling over later.
It's a rural red area and not a through street, but we're very fortunate to have people who'll be celebrating on both sides.

Maybe I'll ask my daughter to make her wonderful pumpkin cheesecake.

(11,097 posts)I've never felt the need to fly a flag but things have changed. The republic just survived a near death experience. It's time to fly a flag.

(11,767 posts)I have lots of red, white and blue lights already up in celebration of Biden/Harris win. I have those lights on a separate power cord from the multi regular Christmas lights. I bought silk red/white poinsettia bouquets and will add those to the blue lit bushes in my front flower bed. I'm more excited about my house being red/white/blue than the regular Christmas lights!

(11,949 posts)Wearing the No. 46 Biden hat I have been wearing for a few months. Buy groceries for a good meal, details yet to be decided.
I will get home and retire the hat.
That night after dinner I will open my bottle of Blantons bourbon and get nicely warm.
