....that have backed this right wing madness, lied to their congregations, and convinced these people to send literally billions while they claimed to speak directly to God.
Non profit charitable organizations all need to be looked at by the IRS.

(24,858 posts)Prosecute these evangelical false prophets (or profits?) as the swindlers they are. They're committing the lowest form of blasphemy: using God's name to fleece parishoners out of their last hard-earned dollars.

(3,416 posts)Not only are they charging monthly recurring charges to credit cards, forcing them deeper into debt, more than one asked for their stimulus checks to be endorsed over to the church.
It is a scam worse than Trump University and all of them must be exposed and charged as the criminals that they really are.

if you are worth 25 million dollars, you are not humble, you are a con man. Reading the wrong book, god does not want to to be on TV all the time, he does not want you asking for money, unless you are giving it ALL to the poor and needy.
But Billy gave tons of money to Franklin, his son being just as phony as he was.
joel osteen has what 8 best seller books and is worth 40 millon
Jim bakker is a convicted fraud and people still give him money.

He was threatened, a bomb was thrown through the front window of his home (luckily they were all in the back just then), and he was stabbed on one of his trips up north (Chicago, I think). He didn't stop.
I'm as critical of the false religion that manipulates as anyone. They defame Jesus constantly.
But there is a genuine religion that transforms, redeems, brings forgiveness, reconciles enemies, empowers, and becomes a force for good.
If you were fortunate to be alive and old enough to process his speeches and sermons, as I was, you would recognize that something more than human was happening through him. I was raised by deeply agnostic parents, who were prejudiced against Christians. But they were inspired by King, and so was I.
He was assassinated on their wedding anniversary. They were devastated, and sad for years afterwards on that day. But they commissioned an Austin artist to make a bust of Dr. King. I visited my dad today and it was there in its place on a shelf in his bookcase.
