Mar-a-Lago Neighbors Don't Want Trump Living There

Mar-a-Lago Neighbors Don’t Want Trump Living There

"SNIP......

“Next-door neighbors of Mar-a-Lago, President Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Fla., that he has called his Winter White House, have a message for the outgoing commander in chief: We don’t want you to be our neighbor,” the Washington Post reports.

“That message was formally delivered Tuesday morning in a demand letter delivered to the town of Palm Beach and also addressed to the U.S. Secret Service asserting that Trump lost his legal right to live at Mar-a-Lago because of an agreement he signed in the early 1990s when he converted the storied estate from his private residence to a private club.”

“The contretemps sets up a potentially awkward scenario, unique in recent history, in which a former Oval Office occupant would find himself having to officially defend his choice of a place to live during his post-presidency.”

(snip ~ begin)

A year and a half after Turkey acquired a Russian missile defense system, violating U.S. sanctions law, President Donald Trump has implemented penalties against the NATO ally.

His refusal to implement those sanctions had drawn bipartisan ire in Congress, but authorizing them now has enraged Turkey, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, amid deteriorating relations between it and its Western allies like the U.S.

Mar a Lago is not a residence and that is the address he uses to vote by mail.

He gave up the right a long time ago when he wanted to turn the place into a private golf club and it was never to be allowed as a residence. You Can't stay there for over 7 nights at a span.

I hope they enforce the ordnance and make him try and buy a property, and then lets see what happens on the financing end of it!

On edit to add, FWIW, it was never going to be a "Private Golf Club" because there is no room. There are several Tennis courts, so it is (or was, if memory serves) deemed a "Tennis Club", but it is just a Private Beach Club

"Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach" is about 4 miles west of Mar-A-Lago, just south of the WPB airport;

maybe someplace like St. Louis, his coke-addled son stealing any loose change off the dresser, Ivanka in a shabby overcoat, pushing a shopping cart screaming at random passer-by. Afraid to leave the apartment because the elevator is broken, he sits alone in his underwear, watching out the window for Putins limousine...which never never comes.

Maybe the SS won’t have to protect his fat ass. Not likely I know it that would be great. Without the SS he’ll have to hire an army of private security guards. I know we should worry about state secrets he might have but since he never paid attention and has dementia I think he doesn’t have many.

If anybody deserves him it is Florida. Texas is a close 2nd.

Of course if he loves those uneducated white voters so much why not move to Logan County, WV or Bell County, KY and live with them.

No, its just like he said. "Before the pandemic there was no way I was coming back to Erie, PA."

Residents in the town pointed out that he agreed to NOT use the place as a residence in order to make it a country club. I guess they figured it wouldn't be worth pressing the issue while he was president. I'm really glad they're pushing it now.

Screw him to the wall, make him find other accommodations. I'm sure that once Biden implements his immigration policy there will be plenty of empty cages for him.

to prevent Chump from living at Mar-a-Loco:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9057857/Palm-Beach-residents-demand-town-ban-Trump-moving-Mar-Lago.html

Reginald Stambaugh, a real estate attorney who has represented the DeMoss family, said that whether or not Trump will be allowed to stay at Mar-a-Lago on a permanent basis depends on whether the town will enforce its laws.

If Trump makes Mar-a-Lago his home, he would then have to shut down the club, according to Stambaugh.

‘One prevalent issue remains lingering, whether President Trump still considers Mar-a-Lago Club his residence,’ Stambaugh told The Washington Post in May.

‘He still can’t have it both ways. It’s either a club or a residence - not both.

‘Florida’s voting laws apply to citizen Trump. If he resides there, he will have to close the club.’

..not on you, Applegrove. On the story.

I remember stories identical to this in 1992 - how Kennebunkport didn't want the Bushes coming back. They came around to loving the Bushes again. Palm Beach likes claiming Trump as theirs, and even though they are sick of the inconvenience of him coming and going, they will love him again soon enough.. The irony is that when he bought Mar A Lago from the Feds, Palm Beach was still very much old money (as in Guilded Age and before) and Trump was despised as a nouveau riche interloper. He originally wanted to build houses on the land - the town wouldn't let him. But as time went on, he bought more golf courses, got older, and became part of the establishment. Now he's President for another 5 weeks. Then he'll become a semi-permanent fixture - but without the hyper annoying closures of roads, etc. any time he does anything. When he's not doing rallies, he'll be holding court at Mar A Lago - bragging on the next trophy wife, railing against the libs, and regaling his rich buddies with stories about how he and a 5-iron is all that stood between this nation and communism.
