On Wednesday night, Schmidt reacted on his Twitter feed to Florida's Sen. Marco Rubio's faux indignance at Joe Biden's campaign manager calling Republican lawmakers, "a bunch of fuckers." MaxNewsToday has assembled this 9-tweet thread and reprinted it as one easy-to-read op-ed for our ongoing segment, Schmidt Storm. It has been edited for grammar and clarity.Im speaking to you in a low and steady voice right now, just the way anybody would talk to an insane person.
Are you okay? Are you looking past the Senate and thinking of trying to beat out Zac Efron for the Bundy role in the next biopic? Are you trying to showcase sociopathy for the nation?
Your hypocrisy is evidence of a delusional personality that sees virtue where everyone else sees cowardice and craven dishonesty. You are an American Vichy. You abandoned every principle you once claimed fidelity toward to stand as an apologist for the most malignant and incompetent president the nation has ever had.
His lethal lying, and your complicit silence, have killed hundreds of thousands of people. He has poisoned the country with his idiocy, racial animus, conspiracy theories and lies. He has assaulted the rule of law, just as he has assaulted the Western Alliance that protects democracy.
During the last weeks, he has strangled faith and belief in American democracy with his lies, conspiracies, insanity and your help.
Tens of millions of Americans, to the delight of our enemies, have bought into your cancerous accusations assaulting the legitimacy of our elections process, which is the crown jewel of the American Constitutional Republic, the oldest in the world. Each morning, you have the nerve to tweet out Bible verses, while serving as a handmaid to Trumps indecency, malevolence, bullying and cruelty.
You are contemptible. Please take your crocodile tears somewhere else. One cant help but wonder if the Lord looks down at your epic fraudulence and says, Wow, unbelievable. I really overdid it with this one.
After four years of madness, corruption, death, lying and thousands of desecrations against our institutions, Lil Marco has finally roared, or perhaps squeaked, in righteous fury. His object, Jen OMalley Dillon, for referring to, accurately, GOP Senators as Fuckers in Glamour magazine. As if.
Marco is a victim, it seems. He feels violated and debased, apparently. Its like his 2020 was ruined, all of a sudden. Lets reject Marcos bullshit, crocodile tears and faux outrage. Sometimes, in times like these, it helps to reach for a quote from the pages of history.
The words of a President of the Senate, once uttered on the floor of that august chamber, seem appropriate for the moment, and especially for Lil Marco: Go fuck yourself.

So it is correct to refer to Dick Cheney as the erstwhile President of the Senate.

(121 posts)I'm so glad Steve Schmidt is on our side. I forgive him his republican past. Most people deserve a second chance, although no one associated with the Trump crypto Nazi regime. Democrats fight republican evil with plastic knives while our enemies deploy heavy artillery and AK-47s. If we want to survive, win and save our nation from becoming a fascist theocracy, we need to fight like Steve Schmidt, with all guns blazing.

In the final frame, the son is kicking his innocent dog. (I didn't say it was a funny cartoon.)
That's how bullies operate: they only go after people whom they perceive as smaller and weaker than themselves. Jen O'Malley could wipe the floor with Marco Rubio, intellectually and probably physically, too. But since she's a woman, Rubio thinks he can berate her without getting beat up.
That's why GOP Representative Ted Yoho called Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez "disgusting" and cursed at her. He thought that since she is a woman, AOC was a safe target who would not fight back (and he could not have been more wrong).
That's why Trump's favorite targets are women. He attacks women because he thinks he can get away with it. And he verbally abuses male opponents only at rallies where he's surrounded by a crowd of rabid fans (and the Secret Service) and through Twitter. And he doesn't have the nerve to fire anyone in person, only through Twitter.
All bullies are cowards.

(59 posts)about the Cheney/Leahy "F Bomb" incident is that the were arguing about Cheney's conflicts of interest. I fear few Americans remember Cheney's comment to the press when he "selected himself" to be vice president (look up the history), in response to a question on whether it was a bad idea to have a sitting vice president who was an in-and-out active CEO of petroleum and petroleum-related corporations. I.e. - conflict of interest. Cheney's reply: "who do you want running your energy policy, an outsider or an industry insider?" The result was the manufactured Iraq War II, launched to secure the oil supply of one of the biggest oil-producers in the world, a country that was created by American and British oil companies in the early 20th century in order to extract the oil from it (look up that history! Laurence of Arabia is a good place to start).
Here's the essential point: Cheney was voicing his philosophy, held by lots of current GOP pols, that corporations should be running our government. In the past 40 years the American left has tilted toward the idea that We the People should run the government, and that corporations should be subject to the will of The People's governance. These radical (yes) rw extremists, including Reagan and the core of the GOP ever since him, flip that on its head: they want corporations running the government, and the public being subservient to same.
I struggle with political history, it's a huge subject, but I think that closely mirror's Mussolini's definition of fascism. Can anyone verify that? If so - gee, didn't my Grandpas' (both of 'em) generation fight against that in WWII??
