Repost from August, but did we all read the details?
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/former-top-postal-service-official-testifies-mnuchin-white-house-slowing-mail/
"If we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money," the president said. "That means they can't have universal mail-in voting; they just can't have it."
But Mnuchin did other things as well, Williams claimed. The former top USPS official said Mnuchin insisted all GOP appointees for the board and regulatory commission "come to his office to kiss the ring" before confirmation, and continued contacts with them about their performance.
Mnuchin was also interested in labor agreements, postage pricing and volume discounts given to the likes of Amazon, UPS and FedEx, Williams said.
"The Postal Service replied to early demands from the Secretary explaining that his demands were illegal, but the concerns were ignored," Williams testified.

It is/was Mnuchin, Barr, and Pompeo.
Possibly, a quadrumvirate if you add in Miller.
This is excluding the enabling and machinations of Moscow Mitch and his unique brand of evil.

(37,922 posts)Personally, I tend to lump the Trump clan (excluding that dimpled darling and apple of my eye, Mary L.) together as one large metastasizing pustulating tumor of narcissism, malice, and greed. Largely, inept. (However, Jar-jar destructively opining on the genocidal potential of the COVID-19 virus stands out as an exception.)
The actual makers-of-things-happening or made-men in the mob sense are the four I mentioned in the previous post.

(14,150 posts)When you track your order at Amazon, there was always a tracking number linked to USPS near the bottom of the page so you could just click on the link and were taken to the USPS tracking site. But sometime around late Summer, the linking stopped and there is just a plain text tracking number, which I copy and paste into Google to get the USPS tracking, which often returns a different status ("in transit" vs "out for delivery" ). Is this just another petty annoyance Mnuchin or DeJoy cooked up?

(40 posts)I mailed a package to my son in S.C. last Sunday...it sat for a few days in god knows where...it ended up in Cincinnati Ohio the day it was supposed to be delivered to my son...as of now it just went out for delivery. It was supposed to be a 3 day delivery.
bucolic_frolic
(55,478 posts)USPS guy told me they are swamped because it's holiday time, and people are not traveling - they are mailing packages instead. He said it's 10 times normal, but that seems an exaggeration to me. And he said packages were being stored in bins as they work their way through the excess. I believe that because in this rural post office there was a matrix of about 24 usps crates on one wall, laden with packages. Normally that wall is blank. So that's what they're doing - stockpiling it until they can move it.
I might also add USPS has been advertising for months for postal workers, reports elsewhere say new employees quit after a few days or weeks. There have been local reduced hours because of covid illness and unavailability of substitute employees.

She's been working mega hours and taking no days off for 2 weeks now ( not required to do this, but...). This is normally the
busiest week of any year, but this year the volume is much higher than normal.
I'm in Florida and about a month ago sent our daughter a small package, she lives in Cincinnati. It took 11 days to get there

Now we are waiting on a package from my BIL in Texas sent priority...its been over 3 weeks.
Tracking is still in Tulsa Ok.

Also I think it's now obvious that Mnuchin, Pompeo, and Jared were running this administration. Trump was just the PR guy.

This situation is so typical of how they demean, degrade and demolish traditional government functions. They know they must destroy public confidence in government before they can defund and privatize it.
