The two top guys ordered $500 Christmas bonuses to each of their (nearly) 500 employees. That still goes a long way in Texas.
Though it wasn't possible this year, they also usually rotate low-level staff to help out at yearly meetings in Hong Kong, so that employees who could never afford such a trip on their own get to see the place at least once.
Texas is not only Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton.

(127,350 posts)I got a two-inch rubber duck with the three letters identifying the company stenciled on front. Obviously, the cheap bastards didn't give a shit about their employees and they were clearing the shelves of promotional material.

(60,186 posts)Some Texans are created more equal than others, I fear. This place has good employee loyalty, as you can imagine.
"Hey, we have a space open for Hong Kong next month. Ever been? No? Feel like going?"
I doubt too many places in the Metroplex ask THAT of their $30,000 a year employees.

If there is a stimulus check, I am gonna give it to a food bank. Those folks need it more than I do.

(60,186 posts)You are not a gofer and you make more than $30K base salary?
May look for a rent relief fund as well for a contribution.
Our IT people don't work for $30K a year either.

(76,703 posts)It failed.
The sales pitch couldn't overcome the claims that they would raise taxes on everyone, even though the amendment specifically said it would set initial limits such that 70% of people would see a reduction.
I was quite surprised this fair & easy to understand idea failed so badly.

(25,816 posts)My parents had clothes made by some Indian tailors who supplied us with a chauffeured ride
for almost a week while the suits were made. We took the ferry to Kowloon and then drove to the
border of China. Lots of armed guards. My favorite was the Tiger Balm Gardens on Victoria Peak, with
a spectacular view of the harbor.

(25,816 posts)And Texas is more than Greg Abbot--there's Marfa!
Seriously, I've been to Texas a bunch with Jeannie to see her family and friends.
There's some very cool stuff there.

(60,186 posts)And I know I'll never have the time to see it all.
I just hope I have the time to get to Big Bend some day. My problem is that by the time I get to Dallas, all I want to do is hang around.
