She is really scared. This is the first time she's been in the hospital since she gave birth to me.

(9,708 posts)She has dementia and had hit her head, but refused to go with paramedics - so stressful but thankfully she is okay; I dragged her to an urgent care to get it patched up but she refused all tests and even with medical power of attorney they wouldn't force her to get care.
Good thing she's hard headed!
I hope your Mom will recover and be home soon for the holidays.

(134,016 posts)When you wrote "hole in the world tonight", I immediately thought of that song. Had it played the night a friend died years ago. It helped. Alas, my computer will not let me link to it.

(34,857 posts)They feel my mom likely is suffering from congestive heart failure. She's really weak right now and she has fluid on her lungs, so, they've put her on lasix, which lowered her blood pressure, but she seems to be breathing much better.
My biggest concern is that she is so out of it. Like, she knows who I am, and understands what's going on, but she's not herself and the doctors and nurses keep asking me if she's normally like this and I keep telling them no. She's generally on top of it. They don't know exactly what is causing her confusion and cognitive issues, though it could be her lack of sleep over the last few days.
I hope that's all it is. But I don't know what else it could be. So, hopefully when she's on the mend and feeling better, and has more energy, she'll be more cognitive and with it.
Like I got her a chair for Christmas. She knows I need to go and wait for it to be delivered today, so, she kept asking when I was going to do that. When I finally told her I was heading back to my house to wait for the chair, she said, "don't bring it back here..." like I really would. it's small stuff like that. I don't know. It's just hard seeing her like that and even harder when there isn't a clear reason for it: like her electrolytes are out or something, which I thought was the issue initially.
