Our Christmas this year will be "merry", but it won't be "MERRY!" like all I have ever known.

We'll listen to our favorite Christmas tunes, nosh on some holiday treats and raise a glass to those we love. But, those we love will be "out of reach" less than a half hour's drive away.

While the covid pandemic hangs over these traditional days of love and joy and that frightens us, there is an even darker presence that seems to squirm into my mind each time I drop my guard for an instant and this angers me: my country, the United States of America, is currently in the clutches of a maniac; a man so obviously and profoundly mentally ill that most of the world is holding its breath with us as we wait to see what obscenity he launches next.

The pandemic is as bad as it is BECAUSE of Trump and his damn Republican enablers.

We have not hugged or kissed our children or grandchildren since March BECAUSE of Trump and his damn Republican enablers.

And, as this Christmas passes, winter deepens, and more hundreds of thousands of us die of this virus BECAUSE of Trump and his damn Republican enablers, I will have to deal with this lonely uncertainty: will those we now miss so badly, be here next Christmas? Will we?

I hope you are in better spirits than I am. It is doubtless a black mark on my soul that I find myself unable to have the traditional "good will toward" several men and women.

merry Christmas.

But, even though it has been stressful, mentally and physically draining, there is always tomorrow.

We will have Joe Biden as our president; and hopefully win both senate seats in Georgia.
We will have an administration that believes in science.

You have a family that loves you.
Happy New Year!

Its been standing here naked for a couple weeks, and that's probably as far as it'll go. Just not in the mood this year.

Make me feel better, I am already thinking January will feel bland, but I signed up for a few zoom senior classes that start then....
