We know this: DRUMPF will be gone, but the Deplorables will always be here.

Many have said it, that being rid of him won't make his zombie followers disappear. The reactionary one third of the country present themselves at different periods in different guises or have their different factions take the lead: Their fatcats hated FDR; their old whites known as McCARTHY and later BIRCHERs hated the intellectuals; then they went into hibernation when they were discredited, until LIMBAUGH resuscitated them, with GINGRICH and the rest just riding LIMBAUGH's wave. LIMBAUGH clarified the Scorched Earth thing, NO compromise EVER, no Moderates. And DRUMPF has just been the most recent beneficiary that 30 year wave, not even knowing the ideological fabric, just relating on the level of grievance, victimhood, fear, hatred, and ignorance.

It's not a matter of our calling them Deplorables or the bridging the gap via "reaching out." And an "awakening" by strategized EDUCATION smacks of "re-education" or brainwashing and would take a generation or more. The Deplorables will be here when DRUMPF is gone. And with things getting more extreme, may resort to violence.

We need to be more honest about what we've been so that we can chart the progress. And, honest about where we're still falling short. Instead of advertising for particular candidates at election time, we need year round advertisements to educate on about a million topics so that the public can better see through 3-word slogans that don't actually convey any information.

Spoken like true Libs, the old saying: Libs look inward for root causes and solutions; (wingnuts) look outward for who to blame.

But I'm curious about your specifics on those counts.

College was there to give power to the slave owners. Wasn't told how the 3/5 slave person translated into political power for the owners. Not sure I was taught that only property owners could vote. Definitely not taught that the 2nd amendment was for killing Indians and chasing runaway slaves. Of course we learned that later women and all races had the right to vote, but it wasn't emphasized that they were lacking originally. We could've been given Washington's message to a Jewish community. Jefferson's hope that all religions could worship here. Never taught how Jackson defied a supreme court ruling, and I wasn't taught the trail of tears. LOTS.

But, one thing I was taught was that our govt provided for voting as the way to express opinion and that the use of violence to impose an opinion was anti American.

Your ideas sounded compatible. ZINN is a departure from the rose colored versions of history we were indoctrinated in.

LIMBOsevic claims they outnumber us, a lie, but a large chunk of our natural constituents aren't active/don't vote.

...And that’s a good thing.

“LET US THINK OF EDUCATION AS THE MEANS OF DEVELOPING OUR GREATEST ABILITIES, BECAUSE IN EACH OF US THERE IS A PRIVATE HOPE AND DREAM WHICH FULFILLED CAN BE TRANSLATED INTO BENEFIT FOR EVERYONE AND GREATER STRENGTH FOR OUR NATION. ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND EVERYONE SHOULD TRY.”

Compare that approach with the deplorable dunderheads raising kids to be good slaves for the likes of Betsy DeVos and Steve Mnuchin.

There must be some source of poison affecting them.
I met many gun nut macho idiots with Limbo on the radio yelling to turn it up.
There is something twisted in their thinking.

I have been saying for years that it really looks just like lead poisoning.
There must be a source of heavy metal that the idiots are exposed to.
Is it left over from the gasoline that Congress fought tooth and nail to keep the led in?
Is it on the toys and other Walmart products from China?
Are they literally chewing on all that ammo they just bought.

The brains have obviously rotted, they are insane and violent, dangerous.

And I'm not being condescending/elitist to them.

Part of things about their not focusing on education is subsistence, the economics - how they have to make a distinction between survival and their own best interests. KKKarl Rove's technique of getting people to vote against their best interests.
