Microbes are our #1 enemy..

Pandemics will become our #1 threat.

A warming planet is steroids for microbial evolution and growth.

Fear the microscopic.

But fight it with science.

Thank you Dr Fauci. For being the voice of reason vs Trump's anti-science presidency.

More than half your body is not human

By James Gallagher
Presenter, The Second Genome, BBC Radio 4

Human cells make up only 43% of the body's total cell count. The rest are microscopic colonists.

. . .

"They are essential to your health," says Prof Ruth Ley, the director of the department of microbiome science at the Max Planck Institute, "your body isn't just you".

No matter how well you wash, nearly every nook and cranny of your body is covered in microscopic creatures.

This includes bacteria, viruses, fungi and archaea (organisms originally misclassified as bacteria). The greatest concentration of this microscopic life is in the dark murky depths of our oxygen-deprived bowels.

I seriously hope that COVID is a once in a lifetime thing and that we never have to go through this again. I hope that the next pandemic is none of our concern. I do feel sorry for future generations that will experience this, because it sucks to no end, and there is no explaining how miserable this is.
