(59,762 posts)But Ill tell you this for free, since Howard has been a personal friend for about 20 years now: he turned 72 in November, and Judy would chain his ankle to the dining room table before shed let him take that job again. During the time he was DNC chairman, she didnt see him much more often than I did, and I live in Germany.

I would be ecstatic if Howard Dean became Party Chair again
To my mind, Stacey Abrams would be the perfect party chair if she were not eyeing a run for governor in 2 years. She gives a master class in how to get things done
Call me an old fogey but these up and comers need to dig in and really learn their jobs so they can do the most good for their districts. The goals they seek will come along as they advance.

(7,964 posts)Joe Concha writes for right wing publications and appears on Fox News. I found quotes from him on Fox with comments such as how "overwhelmingly biased CNN is against trump" and many past attacks on Democratic figures.
Now I thought we weren't supposed to use RW sources on here. I notice it's been an "attack AOC" day here on DU. So is this OK now, to use RW sources to attack AOC or other Democrats?

(83 posts)and the comments on this post are disgusting. Perhaps time to depart DU, and the name "Democratic Underground," doesn't exactly fit the discourse. It should be for center right Dems only-progressives not welcome.

(10,927 posts)... not. I would like to see more of her, though. Trumpsters paint her as many things... one of them is dumb. But when she speaks, she obviously very smart. I loved her serving on a Congressional committee and thought her questions were great.

(83 posts)The comments on this post are sickening. The Hill "article" is an opinion click piece and basically an insult to AOC. Comparing her to trump in any capacity is meant to discredit her character and accomplishments. AOC doesn't spew misogynistic, racist bilge the last time I checked, she doesn't encourage lies about election fraud and martial law, nor has she attacked election officials doing their jobs. She is constantly attacked by rightwingers for speaking the truth, so nice to see "Democrats," helping them out. It is not true that she does not "filter" her comments, which are generally intelligent, and presented extremely well.
She has been very good at taking down certain Republicans, but I guess that doesn't matter to the supposed Democrats on this site. AND, AOC IS still a Democrat, but she is continuously bashed on this forum as some sort of freak, not a sitting Democratic congresswoman deserving of any respect. She fought for $1200.00 stimulus checks non stop, but that doesn't matter to the AOC haters. The policies she supports are progressive AND far past time.
My older kids voted Democratic in this election because of people like AOC, not Pelosi or Schumer, etc. She inspires them, their friends, and many others their age. They are the future, so I suggest maybe listening to what she actually says and does before piling on the hate. I haven't read anything about AOC's stance regarding the DNC, so perhaps she should be consulted.
Really disappointed in this site's hatred of progessive Democrats, which I also happen to be. I've worked with Democratic organizations where I live in CA, donated generously to progressive Dems, and most of these comments completely disgust me.

(6,417 posts)I think she would be wasted as DNC chair. Her talents aren't those. Stacey would be great. She is the organizer. AOC is a rabble rouser. She won't be silenced and she won't be polite. I'm tired of watching the Republicans walk all over the Democrats for decades. I love watching woman who persist and won't be silenced. Times are changing. Quit knocking her down and start using her and her skills.
BainsBane
(57,439 posts)She was an important factor in Bidens election. That certainly does not make her a lesser person than AOC.
Then you must love all the women that came before her. Their courage and determination to make this country a better place.
Elizabeth Warren: gave us the CPA. The GOP tried to knock her down for this and she whipped their ass. She spoke in Congress and persisted when they told her to sit down and shut up.
Maxine Waters: Reclaimed her time.Persisted.
Kamala Harris: VP elect. Firebrand. Persisted.
Nancy Pelosi: Persisted for decades.
Hillary: She was pushing single payer when AOC was a baby. She was the First lady at that time and was not able to vote for it. Persisted.
Their are more. These are progressive woman that have fought for us all our lives. They have huge accomplishments under their belts. As for Stacey Abrams? She handed us Georgia, the state and perhaps on 01/05/2021 she may well hand us the Senate.
When you prop up one woman by demeaning all that came before her is an insult to all woman. Frankly I don't believe AOC would approve that. She has potential and can learn much from her peers.

(96,882 posts)...and it's especially not advocating of policies.
It's fundraising and Party organization, especially considering the decentralized structure of State Committees.
Point to any experience AOC has in these areas.

(34,015 posts)So why is the author comparing the two?
Trump doesn't have the concentration or attention to detail that it takes to run a political party.
AOC could run for president...but doubt if she would survive primaries...She hasn't been in tabloids for 40 years, has never been featured in Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous or has had her own reality show.....Trump won in 2016 because of his media exposure (more like saturation) for 40 years...
This article is really, really stupid....

(58,785 posts)She's 31 now and has 2 years of getting to know the colleagues whose intents and motivations she still dishonestly publicly denies, misrepresents and insults.
I'm afraid she may be hard wired to radicalism and unable to ever be more than a complainer wired to obstruct the majority. If she's not one of the unfortunates who are literally unable to understand the validity of alternatives to her great idea or to respect that others can rightfully believe in themselves and in shared ideas and ideals, why is she still doing this?
In the middle of great national and planetary emergencies that require good people to pull together if we're not to fall to authoritarianism and severe national decline in a declining planet?

(28,761 posts)"The perfect microcosm of who AOC is: a complainer not a doer" and that's why she should be in charge of the "rudderless" DNC.
But I thought the "rudderless" DNC was a immensely powerful secret organization diabolically anointing establishment centrist candidates and rigging elections!
