The $600 isn't help, it's a message.

When I was a kid, I was told that leaving only a quarter as a tip on a meal was actually more insulting than not leaving one, because it means the person didn't just forget a tip, it means they deliberately decided to give you almost nothing.

that strategy of "we will put it in the next bill" never works with the gop.

Scrooge McTurtle wanted to take lack of aid off the table as an issue. If they hold serve, there will be nothing more.

I think that it relies heavily on whether Democrats take the Senate AND change the filibuster rules to prevent McConnell from blocking legislation.

Joe Biden said something about it being a "down payment" awhile back. The intention of the Democrats is to get the money to the average person to help stimulate the economy and to those in great need, to meet those needs. Republicans on the other hand, have no intentions other than some kind of political wind, and continued transfer of wealth to the wealthiest people.

Its a months groceries, or a months bills.
To them it's a weeks walking around money, or dinner and drinks.

They know they're throwing crumbs to starving kids, but they don't care. It's the cruelty they get off on. They are deplorable fuckers for sure.

They were covering them at the beginning but I noticed that it stopped. They seem to have started covering them again. CNN has had almost no coverage and of course Fox doesn’t.

The number could be $100k and there would still be people who don’t think it’s enough.

$600 isn’t great. It’s not nothing either. So that’s sort of where we’re at.

But I am thankful a lot of people who really need it will get something. For some, this may keep the wolves away for another month. They are still being held hostage by the villains in the Republican Party.

The local weekly is run by a wealthy Republican. It's free though he once tried charging for copies and nearly went under. His son, a well-educated idiot, used to do the movie reviews when he was ten and thinks everything he writes is gold. He's even started his own "non-biased" online news outlet heavily promoted in dad's weekly. He wrote an opinion piece about the stimulus earlier this year saying that they should have sent the checks after New York's lockdown when people could use the money in restaurants and stores instead of languishing in their bank accounts. This is the mindset of these people. And they don't have any idea what they are missing by not having compassion, like they never really grokked A Christmas Carol.
