You don't want to play poker, or chicken, with Nancy Patricia Pelosi!
PS - that 4 minute video is bizarre.

(31,261 posts)He knew that McConnell was dead set against a large stimulus check. He believes that Mitch has double-crossed him after Mitch finally accepted simple reality and logic. So Trumps mind sees that Mitch doesnt want to give deserving Americans more money, so Trump focuses on that to boil Mitch.

(67,782 posts)...people in his administration than probably all presidents going back to FDR combined.
The bottom line? Democrats and hopefully the American people come out on top after this intra-republican party squabble.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)This puts McConnell and the two Georgia republican candidates into a real bind. Mitch either breaks republican Senators arms to get more money out of them, or sit and watch the two Georgia republicans likely go down in flames.

(1,343 posts)Seems to me he's trying a bit of reputation cleanup as well as skewering McConnell.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)On this case, he would deserve some credit for opening the door to more money, even as a Speaker Pelosi will likely make the increase possible.

(3,433 posts)With Trump you're either a sniveling sycophant or a traitor...he demands total loyalty to him and him alone. There's no in-between, and the Republicans put themselves squarely in his crosshairs. Except for the fact that he's trying to shut down the government and stop the stimulus checks from going out, watching McConnell get his ass handed to him, by the moron he's been carrying water for, is really a thing of beauty.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)House republicans are trying to help him by yammering about the foreign aid in the bill. So far democrats have resisted lowering the foreign aid, I really dont understand that, especially if it is a sticking point that allows republicans to deny Americans that meet requirements more money. It will be interesting to see where this ends. At the least, many Americans NEED financial help.

(71,542 posts)And what if we dont win Georgia? Trump lets this bill die and we get nothing. But Mitch will say he tried. And folks will starve. This is not a good thing. Consider that Mitch never wanted a bill. And congress has gone home.

(31,261 posts)this opportunity slip right by. Hopefully they are listening closely to Stacey Abrams, she appears to know Georgia and what works there, my guess is she figures out a way to pin down the two republicans with Trumps words.

(31,261 posts)My guess is that Abrams will know what to do with Trumps ploy, and it wont be good for the two Trump bootlickers there.

(3,111 posts)AOC called for it in April, as did Tim Ryan and Ro Khanna.
I like what Nancy Pelosi said and how she said it but I don't see how she could have possibly said anything else. I also don't see how any other Democrat in her position would have responded differently. I don't see how this is an example of leadership, it's more of an obvious reaction.
I do appreciate those who have been fighting for more and have never wavered since the very beginning. Maybe the Democratic Party can learn something from them.

(57,751 posts)at getting Trump to buckle to Dem demands in drawing up bills. She's held the caucus together, and we have Obamacare thanks to her efforts in that regard.
She won't be speaker forever, but she's doing a damn good job now.
And if she got him to accept $2000 checks for everyone, that's amazing!

Make the little-creep settle for a total of four-grand for all of us long under-paid essential workers!

(231 posts)mysterious strategy here. It's just Trump being mad at McConnell and putting a turn in McConnell's punch. I hope we see more of this behavior by Trump. Yes Nancy is smart enough to milk it for all it's worth, but let's see the pay off and pay out before we celebrate too much.

That, and that alone, is the only reason he wants the amount increased.
