Why Does My Brain Always Jump To Conclusions - Now Trump's Call For $2000.00 Checks And.....

more help for small businesses.

I smell a scheme here. Mitch and the Repugs only approving $600.00 checks on purpose so that Trump can come into this at the 11th hour and be the hero and call for $2000.00 checks.

It makes it look like Trump cares.

Does anyone else think that this was planned?

Think about it. Trump could have made in known while they were negotiating this whole mess of a stimulus bill that he wanted $2000 and forced Mitch and the Repugs to make it happen.

No - they waited until this was passed so that Trump could chime in. Here I come to save the day......

What do you think is going on?

Trump doesn't think things out. He reacts. This is petty vindictiveness, plain and simple. I'm not sure how it would make the Dems look bad, when they had a much larger bill sitting on McConnell's desk since may. I believe they even passed one that offered the $2ooo PER MONTH. Yes, this is to get back at not only McConnell, but al of the other Republicans who are starting to peel away from him.

It is possible that people would want to jump on this higher amount and STILL think that he deserves to be removed from office.

It's possible to think that he can be right and can help us get more money to the american people about THIS ONE THING and still think he's an entirely evil asshole who doesn't deserve respect or consideration or anything else.

He will be removed from the presidency on Jan 20th. It's going to happen. If he can (by accident or on purpose) get slightly more money to people who need it on his way out because of his bluster, it's one decent thing he's done in four years. (The other decent thing he could do is take the vaccine on television and convince people that it's okay.)

These are the only two things I would say are "good" that he could possibly do. And neither of them would mean I'm apologizing for him or hoping he'll stay in office.

Bitter as the product is for both sides, way too much for the mean people, not nearly enough for us, pretty obviously the leaders of both parties expected Trump to veto anything he could out of spite.

With his control of the senate in serious danger, McConnell really needed to finally allow something to pass., so he produced his half of a veto-proof majority for this. Let's hope some more Georgians are angered into hanging them all with their $600 rope.

People were complaining about the $600 checks, so Trump thought he could claim to be on the side of larger checks, not expecting anything to be done, so he can turn around and blame the Democrats. I guarantee you that McConnell had nothing to do with this. The GOP Senate is already on record as thinking even $600 was too much.

"Democrats are ready to bring this to the floor this week by unanimous consent."

AOC said: "Glad to see the president is willing to support our legislation. We can pass $2,000 checks this week if the Senate GOP agrees to stand down."

Senate Minority leader Schumer said: "Let's not get bogged down with ideological offsets and unrelated items and just DO THIS! The American people deserve it."

Jon Ossoff said: "President Trump is as ever erratic and all over the place, but on this point, tonight, he's right: $600 is a joke. They should send $2,000 checks to the American people right now because people are hurting."

It appears that Mitch McConnell has yet to comment on Trumps' call for $2000 stimulus payment request.

Seems to me that Trump, who has a tendency to speak before he thinks, (if, indeed, he ever does think), has unintentionally given Democrats a nice holiday gift.

Progressive Democrats signal support for Trump's new $2,000 stimulus check request, echoing past demands

With Trump's surprise support for $2,000 stimulus checks, Democratic leadership and the progressive wing of the party have rallied in support of the amendment.

Many representatives, including Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have been calling for $2,000 stimulus checks since the spring, and are piling pressure on Mitch McConnell to make it happen.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for a "unanimous consent" hearing of the new proposal.

Not sure why people continue to think that Trump is playing some sort of nefarious strategic game. His whole life has been about revenge, and avoiding the inevitable crash and humiliation.

Trump could have continued to be a relatively comfortable con man in New York, but he chose to step under the most powerful social microscope. We have seen how the Presidency ages people, how it tests character, intelligence, and resolve. We have seen how people go in (bright, cheerful and full of energy), and how they come out (gray and tired). Trump of course was never even up to the task. Unfit in character and intelligence. He reacts. He never plans past the day's news cycle.

I would even stipulate the there may be people around Trump who are capable of plotting. We all know McConnell is capable of nefarious planning and strategy. However, with a partner like Trump, no plan is safe from his impulsiveness. You can't really have a conspiracy WITH Trump, you would have to have it AROUND him because like his business dealings, after delicate negotiations, he would come in at the last minute and blow up the deal (as stated by Tony Schwartz).
