Are they officially associated with the Democratic Party? In their emails they call themselves The National Democratic Training Committee. A name that would lead one to think they were official, but their behavior smells. They are constantly and abusively asking for funds. Does anyone know anything about Kelly Dietrich and TrainDemocrats.org?

(37,651 posts)"NDTC was founded in 2016 by Democratic operative Kelly Dietrich.[6][7]
In 2018, the group launched online training for NGP VAN's "VoteBuilder", the voter database used by the Democratic Party.[8]
In 2019, NDTC launched their Staff Academy program to provide training for Democratic campaign staff. NDTC trained a group of 60 new Democratic campaign staff through an 8 week training, which featured both in-person and online components. NDTC partnered with state and national party committees to recruit trainees for the program, which saw more than 600 applicants. The program was developed to provide Democratic campaigns with "high-quality, diverse, and trained staff members" for the 2020 election cycle.[9][10]
According to its FEC report, NDTC raised $7.35 million during the 2018 election cycle.[11]"

(2,715 posts)This is were I get nervous. If the result of $7,350,000 dollars is 60 campaign staff members trained, 122,500 dollars per trainee seems a bit steep. If their trainees are going to use the same tactics that they use, this was a lot of money spent very badly.
Their emails are strongly targeted at having me donate for the campaign in Georgia.
If their contribution to a campaign is training, they are not likely to influence the campaign. My advice to anyone donating would be to give it to the campaign directly unless you know an organization that is doing good active work to win these two campaigns.

(1 post)Good morning! This is Kelly Dietrich. Surprised to find my name mentioned on the DU, but thought I'd create an account and jump in to say hello.
We are not an arm of the DNC. We are an entirely separate organization dedicated to providing any Democrat who wants to run for office, work on a campaign or even be a local leader, free access to training and best practices to help them succeed.
If you want to know more about us, head over to www.traindemocrats.org. You'll see we've built partnerships with all 57 state parties and dozens of orgs across the Democratic spectrum. We don't endorse candidates or take official stances on issues. This lets us keep our training free for anyone who wants it. (We just launched some great training for local leaders to help build long-term sustainable infrastructure and grow local party apparatuses to help recruit and support candidates.)
Wikipedia is a whole thing... don't get me started.
We trained more than 100,000 people in the 2020 cycle and identified 360+ candidates who won in November who took some form of our training. This doesn't count people who ran for the first time because we encouraged them, the Biden training team who used our resources (and train for us), campaigns who increased their Dem performance, money raised for candidates, and all kinds of other activities we do to help Democrats as much as we can.
While we have 100+ courses available on-demand online, we also held 120+ in-person trainings last year, including at least one in all 50 states. This year we managed to get to 17 states in the first three months before Covid hit. We pivoted to an entire virtual offering and saw incredible results.
I agree, the fundraising emails are aggressive (and expensive) but they work and allow us to accomplish our mission. If there was another way to fund this org, we would pivot. In meantime, if anyone can't get unsubbed, please DM me. I'm happy to help.
Hope everyone here has a great holiday and Happy New year. I think we're all done with 2020.
Cheers -
Kelly
