Supposedly after Congress certifies the election results.
I find this not only very curious but also very suspicious, as in he's planning something that will not be popular with the majority of voters.
I would not put it past him to do Trump's bidding on that day, and then get the hell out of Dodge.

(3,922 posts)Regardless of how he acts on the 6th, he'll want to get out in a hurry.
It's our duty as Americans to assure he's never welcome back - again, regardless of how he acts.

(10,749 posts)On the flip side, he could be leaving that day to avoid having to deal with trump once he has certified the vote for Biden. That's okay, of course.
Your speculation is terrifying.

(58,785 posts)Both we know. Then he'll return. I don't see anything suspicious. He split for his usual vacation place on Sanibel Island a week after losing the election, when all hell was breaking loose on the right, and especially in the executive branch.

(96,882 posts)The VP merely presides over the counting. He cant impose a decision.
He just doesn't want to be around for when the big baby starts throwing plates and vases at anyone within aim.

Pence's duties under the Electoral Count Act will extend over at least two days.

(9,714 posts)Knowing the lawless nature of this administration, they're cooking up a plot that would require Pence to be present and with him being overseas, that may cause a delay.
That being said, I can't think of anything within the purview of the VP that would necessitate his presence during the last 2 weeks of office.

(2,964 posts)..inflate Trump's 'decisive leadership' since Day 1 anyhow. But if Jan 6 goes as it should, Trump will be out of options...I'm thinking at that point, people will quit listening to him, so far as 'plots' to consider. I mean, what's left? Maybe get the Proud Boys and the other right wing crazies to try to take over the country?

This seriously sounds like a school teacher taking a vacation week the week before finals.
I had already looked that up.
