'I WILL NEVER FORGET': Trump officially announces war against Republican Party

President Donald Trump spent Christmas eve on the golf course and then turned to vengeance mode as he returned to Mar-a-Lago.

Lashing out on Twitter, Trump officially announced his war against the Republican Party. He has been furious that the Republicans in the Senate acknowledged that President-elect Joe Biden won the 2020 election.

"I saved at least 8 Republican Senators, including Mitch, from losing in the last Rigged (for President) Election," tweeted Trump. "Now they (almost all) sit back and watch me fight against a crooked and vicious foe, the Radical Left Democrats. I will NEVER FORGET!"

Trump's promise will be a concern for Republicans up for reelection in 2022. He's already announced that No. 2 Republican in the Senate, John Thune of South Dakota, is first up on his list of people to primary.

Civil war in the GOP? Please proceed.

Maybe he can start a third party and hire Jill Stein as a consultant.

for the House. They are heavily jerry-rigged in favor of Republicans. The battles will not be Dem vs. Republicans. They will be Trumpists vs. non-Trumpists. We won't even be noticed in those districts as the R's suck all the air and media attention with their extreme vs. ultra extreme battles.

Hard to flip a district with all the focus on one party. Hard to hold ones that we have flipped under those circumstances.

This is not an act of vengeance by Trump. This is an ultimatum - with him or against him for his total control of the party. He is wielding the only power he has left now, which is his ability to con and incite fanaticism.

but the majority of gerrymandered districts are only +4 to +6 Republican. GA is an anomaly, since the majority of states don't have runoffs in the general for House or Senate seats. Split the right and Dems win far more of these seats.

I can't recall exact details, but I'd read an article a while back about their gerrymandering efforts. GOPers managed to hold around 60% of state legislature seats on some states while getting less than 50% of votes.

Republicans enough to make them lose seats. But, if Trump remains popular enough with his followers, it could mean that the jerry-rigged House seats will be filled with far right nut cases. Those are districts that we usually don't win anyway, but if Trump keeps a solid following among them, it would be even harder to flip them. And those nutters would block everything Congress tries to accomplish.

This is not just Trump vengeance. This is Trump keeping a hold on R's, forcing any rational or moderates still in the party to give in to him or be removed. It's like the Tea Party takeover on steroids with Trump's ability to incite the crazies and plant fear of communism.

It depends on how the few rational Republicans respond to this, whether they stand firmly against his cult fascism or give in to it. At this moment in time, they have the ability to make Trump history or to forever become his puppets, depending on how they respond to this either-or ultimatum that Trump is issuing.

Democrats had a weak candidate. We've got to do better in 2022. Colorado is blue statewide, but trumpers are strong here too.

I hear some folks say sane Republicans should form a third party, but the better and more realistic scenario is for Trump to form his own party. It wouldn't be hard - tell him he's bigger than the Republican party and that they stabbed him in the back. As long as he can have rallies and collect money from his marks he should be happy.
