THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS for a Republican who feels icky after Trump's maskless Hanukkah party

"The vice chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee is battling COVID-19 after attending what he described as a largely maskless holiday party at the White House earlier this month," the Boston Globe reported Saturday. "Mountain, 60, who was hospitalized twice in recent weeks, said he likely contracted the coronavirus at the annual White House Hanukkah party. The event took place amid the worst surge in COVID-19 this country has seen since the pandemic began."

"I didn't listen to the warnings of my own family, and now I'm paying the price," Mountain admitted. ""No one can ever say for sure exactly where they got it, but I'll say this: Before the party, I was in perfectly good health. Three days later, I was in the hospital with COVID, and it was all downhill from there."

"It's not fun," Mountain said." I came very close — not once but twice — to them hooking me up to a ventilator."

"There are good days and bad days, but today I'm having a bad day," he explained. "I have horrible coughing fits, sweating profusely. … I couldn't even talk on the phone last week, but it's getting a bit better."

The key to the whole story is "I didn't listen."

It would still be COVID if he didn't know better, but he had all of the information he needed to avoid it and chose to do the opposite.

I wish him well, and I hope that he learned a lesson.

Lock him up.

I know that the people who attend these "events" can read...or at least I assume they do.

They must have heard the term "superspreader"...they must have heard about others who attended Trump events and got sick...and either they went into a state of denial and heeded his "FAKE NEWS!" dog whistle, or they just didn't care.

I don't believe ANY of them were UNAWARE of the fact that "events" without masks or distancing is a bad idea, with potentially fatal repurcussions (just ask the family of Herman Cain). It's all in the way they processed that information...most likely believing whatever Trump told them to believe after his trip to Walter Reed with 24/7 attendance by 14 physicians.

Did he actually catch it at Trump's Covid party, or was he already infected before that? Was he spreading it while he was traveling? Has he infected his family, after he essentially told them to fuck off with their love and concern for his health and well-being?

I wonder how many people he's infected, and I wonder how many of them will die.

Vow to listen to something other than FOX, Newsmax, ONAN, etc. for news.

Don't question scientific facts.

...and, just generally, stop being an asshole and making the world worse for your having been in it.

Go, and sin no more, and consider yourself lucky.
