(17,821 posts)Is the Trump campaign paying for all of these cases they've been losing in court? They fucking should be. I'm sick of hearing about these damned lawsuits, and I sure hope the state and federal governments are being compensated for their legal expenses in these cases. The plaintiffs should get jail time for wasting the court's time over and over like this.

(76,693 posts)Suing a governmental agency that doesn't actually exist. Or at least, has no assets because it's an ephemeral body.

(11,419 posts)(at least not if I read the Constitution correctly) Every individual state and DC gets to select its own members, with the only stipulation being "no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector". So - and IANAL - wouldn't each state have to be served individually?

(76,693 posts)So, they are in fact suing an entity that doesn't actually exist!
Unbrilliant!

(20,453 posts)The term Electoral College doesnt appear in the constitution. Its just a fancy collective term for the group of electors chosen by each state to vote for president and Vice President.

(11,697 posts)So it's no real surprise they think the Electoral College and a saddled tyrannosaur can both serve as the real basis for a lawsuit.

(9,390 posts)The US Capitol Does not have a street address and the zip is 20515 on the House side and 20510 for the Senate, I think.
This should have been addressed to:
Vice President Michael Pence
C/O Mother Pence
S-219
United States Capitol
Washington DC 20510

(5,903 posts)I don't know how they'll come up with 'proof of service' to the 'Electoral College', which only amorphously exists for a short time every 4 years. (Hint - it's not a physical thing - it's a process.)
Are they planning on serving all 538 electors?
Maybe someone can tell them that the Electoral College is all in Florida now for Winter Break!
