(37,840 posts)I do not understand how the US became so very unhinged.
It's like every last fact has been blasted to shards. Everything is open to doubt by these people and their we demand that our bullcrap is every bit as reliable as your meticulously studied natural phenomenon.
Speaking of theories, one of mine is that what we're witnessing is a backlash by the con-men and televangelists to almost being financially wiped out by the rational society. Which emerged after the second world war and had it's golden apex with the Moon missions.

(8,641 posts)This gave rise to unhinged right wing hate radio and television like limbaugh, fox, oan etc.
from britannica.com
Fairness doctrine, U.S. communications policy (194987) formulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that required licensed radio and television broadcasters to present fair and balanced coverage of controversial issues of interest to their communities, including by devoting equal airtime to opposing points of view.
snip
In 1987 the FCC formally repealed the fairness doctrine but maintained both the editorial and personal-attack provisions, which remained in effect until 2000. In addition, until they were finally repealed by the commission in 2011, more than 80 media rules maintained language that implemented the doctrine.

(13,538 posts)The post references some company supposedly "holding" ALL the votes from Dominion

(23,693 posts)One for each county. In addition, every Presiding Judge is required to take copies of the election results home and keep them for 3 years. The packet will include documentation of the opening and closing machine totals, # of voters, itemization of the different contests and copies of the seals used on the equipment
We would have duplicate information for 300 precincts here; I have 3 years worth of election info in my house.
The machines we use produce paper ballots and the machines we use for actual voting do not store any information. My guess is that the paper is stored in one location and the data in another.
Each county chooses its own equipment, Dominion is not the only game in town.

(11,106 posts)my former neighbor in the 'Great East' Nashville was acquainted with the guy. Not friends or anything, but they did have a relative who lived next door to him. I get the impression that he was in east before he moved to Antioch. And yes, he was always a bit of a loon based on their knowledge.
